If someone hits you turn the other cheek. If they see it as weakness and try to hit you again then give them one hell of a beating that they'll never forget. Everyone deserves one chance to learn the error of their ways.

An eye for an eye is justice which is important for order and is human. An eye for an eye is important when the society is violated and the guilty needs to pay back. Turn the other cheek when you can be noble and forgive. It is possible when it is personal and the impact is on me only.
Allah urges us to forgive if we want to earn his forgiveness as the Quran teaches us.

Turn the other cheek is a whole lot less violent. My choice would be to turn the other cheek

It depends. If someone hurts one of my kids....forgiveness is not my first thought. But for most other things, yeah I'd probably turn the other cheek.

Though, I wouldn't go to the Bible to tell me when to do which. It usually gives bad advice.
There are situations where either would be advisable. And most situations are not very clear cut. The reason the Bible gives such bad advice, it because it usually speaks in terms of black and white with no middle ground. It usually speaks in absolute terms, even when it is contradicting what it previously said in absolute terms.
