I picked up my bottle of pills at the pharmacy today and noticed that my 75mg of effexor looks different....it used to be long a peach pill with red letters on it...now it's these round pink pills. The label used to read effexor but but now it says venlafaxine HCL...did effexor change or did I get the wrong perscription?

What you received is the generic brand of the drug Effexor, that's why the name 'venlafaxine HCL' instead of the Brand Name of Effexor.
It should have been cheaper for you, considering it's the generic brand.
It's still Effexor though, so don't be afraid to take it, it's safe.

you got the wrong medicine friend. Plain Effexor has a generic. Effexor XR does not.

You just got switched to the generic. Meaning, your drug bill is going to drop a lot. The drug is exactly the same.
