Is there anything in the Bible about suicide?

iam suicidle a lot more then i ever have been, and i know one day iam gonna end up actually killing myself, but i have to know, is there anything about suicide in the bible? my friends say there is, but they never showed me, so i dont know if they are right.

Don't you think it is rather stupid to judge whether to kill yourself or not on some old book written thousands of years ago by religious nuts?

You have a brain. I'm sure you can figure out the pros and cons of killing yourself. The major con to doing it, of course, being that you'll never have a chance to enjoy anything else.

Suicide is self murder, which is definitely in the Bible and described as a sin. Life is a gift from God and not to be taken lightly. He loves you too much.
You wanted references so here they are: Remember that kill in the KJV is more correctly translated murder,

Not explicitely. The closest caommand against self-slaughter (suicide) is the 6h commandment: "Thou shalt not kill." The implicit reason or foundational principle upon which the ban against murder rests is the "Imago Dei" (Image of God; see Gen. 9:6). Human beings were created in the image of God (Gen. 1: 26, 27) and it is this image - this likeness to God - that we are to respect and rever in ALL human beings, including ourselves.

Secondly, if you study the suicides recorded in the Bible, you will notice that the Scripture writers did not need to condemn the act of suicide explicitely becuase the appear to regard the act of suicide itself as God's judgment upon the suicides. Notable examples of suicides in the Bible are (1) King Saul (1 Sam. 31: 4 - 6; 1 Chron. 10: 3 - 7; (2) Ahithophel (2 Sam. 17:1 - 29); (3) Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus (Matt 27: 5; Acts 1: 18).

PLEASE... do not delude yourself into thinking that there is no hope. Seek help and counsel.

Technically, there is no verse in the scripture that proscribes suicide, unless it is the commandment 'thou shalt not commit murder'. The definition of suicide is the intentional act of killing oneself (murder).

Keep a couple of things in mind, friend, please. Night is always darkest before the dawn, but the sun does rise. Just when you think you are burdened beyond capacity, look around. There's an angel just waiting for you to lift your hand. You may have noticed already, in your saddest moments someone calls, drops by, smiles at you? These are sent to give you peace.

There is always hope! Smile and the weight of the world is lessened.

what a very sad post

i am not christian but i know that suicide is seen as murder of the self , and murder is seen as a sin

now that is cleared up , you know that you dont have to be feeling like this and that life can be good again
you may have depression and should see a doctor for some help
my husband went through several years of feeling as you do and he got help and i am so glad to say he does not want to kill himself now
now my 3 children can have a life with their dad , and i can be with the person i love
please think about getting help sweetheart , this does not have to be this way , and life can get better

I am suicidal day and night since birth for 44 years now. I have no guts to do it though. If you are young, you want to get even with someone by killing yourself, and if you are older then you just want the pain to stop.

I began to accept the torture of living in an evil religious liar’s world. I know that any belief in a religion, and faith, is a mental illness and I see that I am stuck here with 89% insane people and they are running stuff. It sucks big time and it is scary that delusional people are in charge. I want to die just to get away from this religious planet, anything, to get away from a total liars planet.

In that disgusting liar book the bible they have the fake story about Judas who killed his self by hanging on a tree. And there are Jewish suicide mission to murder and genocide 13 complete nations around them in order to steal their land under the commands of insane people Abraham Jacob Isaac Moses Aaron, who claimed to talk to a god which I know does not exist as they say it. All the liars for genesis to Revelations have ruing the world for sane people. People like me who know its all a lie were murdered over and over again for thousands of years so that the world is filled up with the dummy gene now.

By the way, If you go to Sweden you can get assisted suicide if you have the cash and they will help you if you have a terminal illness, or just tired of life, or mentally ill and depressed. Or you can do what I do, observe, watch, rise above it, as long as I can and then die like we all will no matter what you believe.

I will tell you what I believe. You won’t be getting even with your tormentors if your dead and when you are dead you won’t know if you lived a long or a short life. And there is no one or nothing in any book of the Jews that can tell you anything about what will happen. You'll likely be dead with all your emotions, thoughts, and spirit in tact just no body and no focus on the earthly situations. If you die before you get your **** together and I mean before you get your mind liberated from all things that bind us here, all attachments to pain anger things and issues, become human, become psychic, become a real human which is like an advance super animal with instincts and intuitions, then you will not enjoy your death anymore than your pathetic life has been.
