More damaging to the liver is the high dose of tylenol - about 500 mg that is used along with the codiene. Acetaminophine is also added to Vicoden and other pain relievers as a "chaser". Over the long haul this is where the real damage can come from, especially if you have Hep C. Read the labels to find out exactly what in the pain reliever.

The nurse speaks with reason. codiene is easily abused with few side-effects to the body, thus it is labeled a schdule II (C-II) drug when it is dispensed by itself. when it is dispensed with tylenol, however, it becomes a a c-III, or less controlled because the tyleonol in the codiene tablets can only be taken until you reach the 4-gram mark. any more than 4 grams of tylenol will result in liver damage, and 10 grams is usually liver shut down. The strength in a Tylenol #3 tablet (Tylenol with Codeiene) is 300/30 mg, so basically, anything over 13 tablets is dangerous. also, drinking alcohol with these is dangerous aswell because alcohol is also hard on the liver, therefore, if one is taking 2 substances, both taxing the liver out, you could hurt yourself real bad before the night is over.

Hello, Jad

I would say yes any kind of medication is hard on your liver if you take it for long periods of time constantly. You know that you are having liver trouble is your skin is turning yellowish or (jaundice)
