Take some psychology and sociology classes. Take some public speaking courses. To become a Police Negotiator you will have to first become a police officer. Don't commit yourself to criminal justice courses. Agencies like to see a "broad" spectrum of classes and don't want a military robot. The biggest part of being a Police Negotiator is being able to talk to someone and be sincere. You will be sent to a Police Negotiator school to hone your skills and gain some very valuable practice. Get a thick skin and don't let things bother you. Really a person is either capable of negotiating or they are not. The ones that are know how to listen, are very patient, and know how to talk. These traits more than anything will get you the job. Good luck.
