Do you give thumbs down when you disagree? When you don't like the person giving the answer? When the answer is rude or blatantly ignorant? When the answer is annoyingly long? Some other reason?

I like all the reasons you listed, but I cannot give a thumbs down since I'm only a one, so far. You have to be a level two before you are allowed to judge, sad, is it not? But I do give movies with foul language a thumbs down, can't they find some other expressive words? Other than curse words, that's totally lazy! Rude too, abusive to the ears, heart. That's a big thumbs down!!!
You are probably asking about giving a thumbs down on this site, so don't give me a big old nasty thumb down, I do understand, only being slightly silly here. :-)

I give a thumbs-down when the answer is extremely profane, or annoyingly long. If the answerer actually took the time to type a long post, I'll give it a thumbs-up. The long copy/paste answers I don't even bother reading.
I don't normally thumbs-down for any other reason, because the answers in the forum are mainly matters of opinion. I feel that everyone's opinions are equally valid, and therefore do not deserve a thumbs-down..

Smileycat; this is a question I wanted to ask!
For questions, I thumb down questions that are phrased rudely or are not questions (mere attacks, silly jokes, statements, etc) and I report abuse as well. I never thumb down a question that probes an issue I disagree with since it respectfully presented.
For answers, I definitly thumb down and report abuse when it is disrespectful or blasphemous. When the answer is annoyingly wrong, I just don't read it. I cannot thumb down or up something I have not actually read to express an opinion. I do not thumb down respectful answers I disagree with but I thumb up the answers I agree with.
What do ou think? Am I a good girl? What about you, dear?

I give a thumbs down when the answer seems absurd like when you can tell that they are answering for points. Also I give thumbs down when they answer without feelings, you know i hate when someone gives an answer that's not fair, that doesn't take into consideration someones questions or feelings.
Other than that if I disagree but the answer seems fair I leave it the way it is.

If the individual is a creationist or conservative Christian spouting falsehoods or dogma then they get a thumbs down every time. If they're deliberately crass or offensive as well. Other than that if people give honest answers even if I don't agree with their viewpoint I won't give them a thumbs down.

personally, its rare for me to give either in questions not my own. They have to be really spectacular in either direction
I give thumbs down to pointless answers, ignorant ones, and ones that ignore the question completely. Oooh, and ones that seem to completely miss the point of the question.

thumb down candidates are the ones who ask rude, nasty and disrespectable questions i am guilty of writing answers that are long, and i will work hard to not continue doing that.....
