The word "English" means "belonging to England" ! Like "Indian' means 'belonging to India': lot of things are English, such as the tea-habit, some typical manners of introduction, behaviour, tastes etc. As for the language, English has a tradition, currency in many countries because the English people, sea farers, spread their language well, as they travelled wide and far for many centuries in the past. A matter of simple expediency in communications, it is a very useful language! There is Indianism in English, there is Americanism: Shaw once said: "England and America are two countries divided by a common language"! Nice responding to you, Sir! Have a good day!
