The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) makes clear what you must do to achieve perfection/completion as Jesus dermanded when when He said "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48.

If your life is not in perfect/complete accord with the Sermon, what business have you preaching? Are you not one of those Jesus described in Matthew 7:12-27?

Or have you turned away from the Word of Jesus and become a follower of Paul who murdered Christians and then corrupted the Word by teaching that by grace alone you are made perfect?

"which history has proved is insane because man is fallible" Are you arrogant enough to claim this when you have never met everyone who has ever lived, let alone tested them to see if they are all imperfect?

"Preaching is proclaiming the truth. You can do that without being perfect yourself" How can you proclaim the truth when you do not live according to the truth? How can you tell others to live by the truth when you do not?

"Christians are killers, Christians start wars". No, the followers of Paul do those things. Those who understand and live by the Sermon on the Mount do none of those things.

Paul taught that by grace alone people are saved, thus lowering the standard of behaviour Jesus established through the Sermon on the Mount.

Hello Orion.. :)

Matthew 5: 1-7 states:

The Beginning of the Sermon on the Mount

1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

The Beatitudes

3 ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 ¶ Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Is. 61.2

5 ¶ Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 ¶ Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 ¶ Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 ¶ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 ¶ Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 ¶ Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 ¶ Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The Salt of the Earth

13 ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

The Light of the World

14 ¶ Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Jesus' Attitude toward the Law

17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

1 Corinthians

29 conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

31 ¶ Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

33 even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Ephesians

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

One New Man in Christ

11 ¶ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 but now, in Christ Jesus, ye who sometime were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord:

22 in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

In Paul own words..does not say grace alone saves you..he said:

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

James 2

Faith without Works Is Dead

14 ¶ What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 ¶ Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.

Very good question indeed. What Jesus taught was that you need to back your leaders of the country you are in even if you may not agree with them. So with that I need to back the President in the war in Iraq even though I do not agree that we should even still be there now and could have saved many lives if it had been done in a more diplomatic fashion instead of rushing in for revenge and thinking nobody will care. Even those that voted for him are sorry now that they did as evidenced in his popularity rating. WE have been told all kinds of lies to make it look right but in the end, you do not see any of Bush's kids going to Iraq, do you? YOu see none of his family putting their life on the line as the rest of the country is doing. Not very many really live the Sermon on the Mount I am sad to say but it is something we need to think about a lot more and put into practice if we are to have any peace in this world before Jesus comes back to get His people. Sometimes you need to stand up and go to war but not when it is for revenge that a dictator tried to kill your father so you are going to get him. Jesus taught that you need to back your leaders, even if they do not really lead in the right way. Just as He expained about the taxes, render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God the things that are God's. You are correct that most do not live the life that is preached on the MOunt and that is what is so sad. We would not be in the place we are in if people just would do it. Study your bible and you will find truth there and you can find a church home eventually if you choose to that will at least come close to the Mount standards. Check the site listed below and do the lessons there to find what the bible says and let the bible interpret itself with God's help.

Preaching is proclaiming the truth. You can do that without being perfect yourself, as long as you teach God's Word. If only perfect people could preach there would be no preachers, you know that because you are not perfect either. Jesus said to imperfect people "Go into all the world and preach the gospel,"
God says "don't lie" it does not mean that you will not lie, it is the standard. When He says be perfect, it does not mean you will be perfect, but it is the standard we strive for.

To think there is a perfect person on this planet is like saying God is made out of tin. We should all strive to walk in peace with our Brother Jesus, like Him, using Him as an example to our lives loving Him for the sacrifice He gave. This precious man gave his life so that we, as spirits, can not die. To sit in judgement is to fall very short of perfection, Lamp Lighter. We should walk this Earth as gentally as if walking on someone's life, not amiable but with respect and Unconditional Love, forgiveness and acceptence.
Therefore nobody but Jesus is perfect. He is the Lamb of Sacrifice. Would you give your life so that the multitudes will live? I would in a heart beat. Thats Unconditional Love.

You fell right into it, didn't you? Perfection is only acheived through submission to God's will, which history has proved is insane because man is fallible. Hence, perfection for the Christian is acheived through acknowledging that we are completely imperfect, and only through the love of God and His mercy does He see us as perfect. Thus- BE PERFECT - ie. know you are not, and turn to God for His mecy.

As for why are they preaching - it's called a number of things; passion, conviction, faith, and freedom of speech dear.
