My 5 1/2 old kitten never covers up her faeces. I clean her litter tray every day or two so it's always clean. Any suggestions on how to get her to start covering it up?

When we first got her (approx. 3 months ago) she always covered it up but now she doesn't...?

i have a big male cat that does not cover up his faeces. he tries but is too stupid to realise that scratching the wall does not cover it up. he also gets scared when people pass by when his is on the tray and runs off.

Also i was using Tesco's cheap litter which they did not like, so i tried their premium litter which they like more.

One of my other cats covers his buisness over every time she passes and often she sits next to the tray when he is going to the toilet and covers them when he is finished.

Domesic cats usually cover there faeces so that they can hide there tracks.

Larger animals in the cat family do not cover it because it is away to show dominance for when other animals come by. With the fact you have only had your cat for 5 months she can be trying to show dominance through out the house.

I honestly have 3 cats.. 2 of them conceal theirs, however the oldest one by no skill has and we've had her considering she grew to become right into a kitten, which grew to become into 5 years in the past. i do no longer know why, I merely determine she would not prefer to.

There is a chance that you are not putting enough litter in the box. That's what happes with my kitten. Other than that, hopefully others will have better answers

Cats will sometimes leave their poop uncovered to (1) mark territory; (2) tell you that they are upset about something. My kitten did that once when I failed to play with her three days in a row. On the 3rd day, she left a stinker in her box uncovered so as to get my attention.

Very sneaky and clever pets are cats, ummm? They know what will make you sit up and ask them. "what's up with you?"

Sometimes i think they don't like the litter or are distracted. Maybe try some new litter and place the litter box somewhere more private.
