you can not cure them, you must decide between living with them, locking them, up or killing them.

Having over 20 years of experience working with perpetrators of these offences against the some of the most vulnerable people in our society. I fully understand the anger and frustration expressed by anyone who has had to endure being a victim ( and victims are in essence any person who has close ties with someone who has been abused)...I equally see the feeling of injustice felt by anyone just hearing about these offences and then seeing the perpetrators being released from jails after what appears a short sentence in comparrison to the victims who struggle through life coping with the defilement of their childhood.
I would have to pose a question back and ask...what does the UK do to tighten these laws where paedophile and pederastic behaviour has besmerched a life or lives as is usually the case?
Thankfully we live in a time and a country that respects life and as such we don't condone the use of a death penalty anymore. I feel the question is geared towards 'should the death penalty be reintroduced for paedolphiles'...I find that a little disturbing...where will it stop?...why stop at paedophiles?..why not ALL sexual offences...(in which case as was recently in the press...a man would have died because a woman (an inveterate liar as it turned out) accussed him of rape)
I am not suggesting that children lie...far from it...but a reintroduction of a serious way of controlling offenders could be the tip of an iceberg I would rather not see.
If on the other hand, sexual predators were jailed indeterminately, thereby having to go through courses to address there sexual mores, and any number of psychological treatments which may include medication...I would put my name to a petition to get that.
As long as it was a serious panel of professionals from across all disciplines who took the decisions when it came to possibilities of parole!

I couldn't quite understand the question but if I understood correctly, I think you're asking if pedophiles need to be punished more severely or if other means of stopping them has to be done. I personally think that locking up a person does not do any good. If anything, it predisposes them to more lunacy. There are a few who do start off on the right path but for some, we see some sort of recidivism. Pedophiles have a serious psychological problem that can't just be cured by threats of punishment or jail time. They have to be cured. It's just like a drug addiction. You can't just put behind bars. You have to rehabilitate. The thing is, you have to get these pedos to a place where they not only realize that they are hurting a lot of people (hurting is an understatement) but that they have a problem and there's another way to deal with that problem without resorting to pedophilia. (philia? that's love, right? What a word to use...)

Speak loudly and carry a big stick. Laws get passed when society as a whole think is a problem. A large enough groups needs to speak loud enough and long enough to get people to take notice. I do not know what the laws in the UK are -- and I'm not sure completely what the extent of it is in the US. But, you are able to access who is a pedophile through the Internet - pedophiles are required to let themselves be known -- where they live and where they are moving to. The have to register themselves -- it really an ugly process for them -- fortunately for the Innocent. Do y'all have a system where once pedophiles leave their incarceration that they have to register within their local area -- I'm don't know if I'm wording this just right -- but they do have to live by certain guidelines and regulations in where they are allowed to live.
Hypnotism is not the answer -- hypnotism is a suggestion of sorts -- and doesn't always work. People have been trying hypnotism for years on trying to quit smoking and it has been unsuccessful.
Once a pedophile they WILL always be a pedophile. The only thing that can truly work is extensive cognitive therapy where they learn to restrain there way of thinking and learn to have better and correct thoughts. This doesn't mean they will not have the desire -- but they will learn to control the action. I do believe they will continuously battle the desire, and continuous therapy over the years is needed.

Paedophies should be imprisoned for the rest of their lives without any possibility of parole. It is the only way that children can be protected from them, without resorting to the death penalty. While they are in prison they should work to pay for their keep. If they don't work, they don't eat.
I cannot understand why governments are so soft on these extremely dangerous people. They are worse for society than any terrorist could ever be. Terrorists kill random people, but paedophiles destroy trust, which is the foundation of society.
In Britain and most states in the USA a person would go to prison for longer if they gave a child marijuana than if they raped the child. It is insane.
I guess that the only explanation is that governments gain some benefit by people being frightened for the safety of their children and being distrustful of all strangers.

I have done similar work as you have and to be honest just locking them up does not solve the problem, neither does castration and all the other unusual suggestions that have been put forward over the years.
I was wondering if maybe Hypnotism may be an option, and before anyone else comes on here and comes out with the usual "kill them" attitude this should be considered.
For every sex offender killed there will always be others to replace them, perhaps with hypnotism this could be stopped at an early age, because it appears there are more young people being convicted of these offences and the dirty old man image is fast disappearing.

This is a serious response. Im in my mid 20s and this paedophile issue has put me off ever wanting to start a family. These weirdos need a good smashing. Or locking them up permantly where they can never see the outside world again. It has also had a knock on of public hysteria such as people not being allowed to video their own kids sports days or school plays. It is not a nice world!

It is certain that there is a need to review how many law breakers are treated. Only massive action by the people can really change things. Look at France earlier this year it was the people who made them drop the unpopular legislation relative to employment contracts for young persons. Maybe we Brits are too reserved.

I posed this question before and had quite a lot of answers, the majority felt the same way as I do and thought that hanging was the solution.A great deal of answers were extremely graphic as to what they would like to do to these paedophiles.I think a lot of people have very strong views on this and yes like myself think that they should be eradicated from society.

I think we can, and must condem them in the strongest terms. Even though they may have been abused as children all adults must take responsibility for their actions. They cannot be cured. I would find some uninhabited islands around the UK, put up decent housing, shops, etc and make it a small community where they can live in peace - without coming into contact with children. Do not let them have the internet, TV etc.
They must be taken out of society so that children can be safe.

Well, I think that pedophiles should have their penises cut off. But we'd also have to cut off their hands, and silence their voices, and I guess blind them because there are different types of pedophiles. I think the best punishment would be to lock them all up together and never let them out. They should have the bare necessities to live, but no tv, no Internet access, no visits from the outside world. And I think female pedophiles should be punished just as harshly as male pedophiles.
