The ABS light comming on mean the sensors in the ABS system are malfunctioning or they have detected something wrong. The ABS will not effect your normal everyday braking. The ABS is only used to make the brakes not lock up in the even of heavy braking. The brakes will pulse on and off many times a second. This will let you steer in snow or in slippery conditions. So I if you want to be safe for the winter I suggest you take in your car to get it fixed. The ABS light going on is not dangerious, it only means your ABS system is having problems. Your normal brakes will still work properly but they will lock up in the event of full braking instead of pulsing, so this means you either need to get it service or be extra careful in snow and rain while braking.

ok, we could initiate by ability of addressing a number of the solutions you have so a techniques. Bob W - Wow, purely wow, that became stunning advice. Pedro S - exceptionally plenty appropriate on djskooby2002 - have you ever heard of ISO, because of the fact they're people who standardize warning lights fixtures and sprint symbols, between different issues. And ABS will by no ability recommend Air Bag device, for the particular reason that they do no longer prefer the ABS and the Airbag structures perplexed. Airbags could have "Air Bag" or a image of someone and an air bag, or "SRS" or "SIR", yet by no ability will the Airbag device be indicated by ability of an "ABS" easy. ok, now on along with your question. it may look which you have 2 separate issues. The ABS easy purely tells you that the device got here across a fault interior the self attempt of the ABS and had disabled the ABS device for secure practices, do no longer hassle, your ordinary braking device will nonetheless artwork purely great. you will could have the laptop examine by ability of somebody with a test device, no longer a code reader, yet a genuine "test device". the main simple concern is a grimy or broken wheel velocity sensor. The Battery easy. It ability there's a fault someplace on your charging device. that's frequently examined at many motor vehicle areas shops as became in the previous pronounced, yet I recommend verifying what they inform you with somebody greater smart in the previous you purely run out and initiate changing areas. there's a reason those adult males artwork at motor vehicle Zone and not in a storage.

it probably means that your abs is not working properly, and it could be very dangerous because abs stops your brakes from blocking your wheels when you want to stop very quickly in a dangerous situation. If the abs isn´t working your car could start sliding during intensive braking.

Your anti-lock brake system has a malfunction, so your car has completely disabled the ABS system. Your normal brakes will operate fine, but ABS will not kick in if a wheel slips. Safe to drive, you aren't damaging your car.... just remember when it snows that you won't have them.
Take it to the dealer to find out exactly why the system may not be functioning... it could be too many things to list, from simple to expensive.

I had a Mercury Grand Marquis that had a similar issue. After having the car in and out of the shop over a 6 mo. time, a buddy fixed the problem in an afternoon by installing a new alternator! I still don't know why but it worked. I'm puzzled.

It's usually a sensor that goes bad or the wiring to it is grounding. Your brakes will work, but the ABS will not.

it is either thelling you that your brakes are getting low (some cars) or it s telling you the brakes are not using the anitlock brake system due to a malfuntion. not dangerous so to speak, but your brakes will lock if you slam on them

No it just comes on for a bit to test and show it is working. If it does not go back off, then you have a problem.
