Not sure why everyone's giving RedAngel the TD... but she's right. Colloidal silver is a mild, broad-spectrum antibiotic and has some mild anti-viral properties. TOPICAL application of colloidal silver can help resolve your daughter's hand-food-mouth disease (which is most commonly caused by fairly benign Coxsackie virus.) It may also help prevent spreading the virus. Since it's pretty inexpensive and there's absolutely NO RISK with topical application, sure it could be worth a try. (If you're interested, I have a lovely garlic and onion syrup recipe that can help kick the virus a little quicker, too. Email me.) Typically, this infection is not treated at all. It's *self-limiting*, and will go away within a week or so unless there's some compromise to the immune system. Symptoms, aside from the rash, are fairly mild fever and overall "yucky" feeling. So you could also isolate your daughter from extensive contact with other kids, have her wash her hands frequently, wash your towels and face cloths after every use (in HOT water) and just wait it out. :)
