SBS buses are permitted to drive at the speed of 60kph on the expressway. The driver is being safety conscious when he's driving at 50kph on the road. I don't think he's road hogging.

The bus is governed by a time schedule from terminal A to terminal B. Thus, the driver have to regulate his driving speed and reach the other terminal on scheduled time.(Cannot too early or late) Is a very difficult job to work, hope you understand. That why, no Singaporeans like to work as a bus captain. The companies (SBS & TIB) brought in alots of foreign drivers. For your info, only taxi drivers strictly for Singaporeans, even lorry drivers are also foreigners.

As in the driver cannot accelerate more than speed even if he wanted to...

but that was last time.. i don't know now... :)

hmm.anyway 50km/h is safe enough since there are passengers on board...

I suppose the drivers are told not to exceed 50km/h, then again i'm not sure but definately there is a speed limit the drivers have to watch for.
