Dominica Rain Forest Tram - is it necessary to book in advance for a trip on the tram?

My family and I are visiting the island in November, but we haven't booked this excursion through the cruise operator we are using. Thing is we really fancy this trip now, but have found that the excursions booked through the operator are fully booked. What I want to know, is do you have to book in advance to use the tram? Or can you just show up whenever you want, and jump on the tram? 3rdly, is the Tram any good?

It´s better to book in advance, this way you would be sure you could enjoy the different attractions.

No it is not necessary to book in advance, I when on the tram recently when I was there and did not even call ahead. When we got there we had to wait for a while because there weren't enough people( each cart takes 8). When a cruise ship is in the port it is a little more busy but still not over crowded, if you are going to visit Dominica I wish you would have taken a flight and spent a few days, it is a really beautiful island and there are lots of things to do and see, like the Emerald pool, The Boiling lake, The Valley of Desolation and more visiting by boat there is only so much you will be able to do but the Tram is a good start. I live on the island of Barbados but I have visited Dominica four times.

Yes it is good that you book in advance,as this will save you the hassle of getting on or even making it on after all,yes the tram is good,however if you want a better view of Dominica's many wonders in terms of its natural rainforest's,its best to go on a hiking excursion,into the countries national parks, as you will be on the ground up close and personal with the many fascinating things that are to be seen.
