1. model that you choose to buy:
Diffrent notebooks have diff usage, depending on you are a..

* Home user - will look for more graphics
*Business personell - Graphics and Storage
*Student - sounds,graphics etc.

2. Schemes available:
The kind of package that you are getting...sometimes..antivirus is free of cost...n ..some times MS OFFICE is free..

EG: DellTM InspironTM XPS M1210 Notebook has
-Free upgrade to 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x512MB)
-Free upgrade to DVD Burner

Dell has a lot of packages available. Generally..
Software such as following are free...
Microsoft® Office 2003 Basic (+Rs 7623)
Microsoft® Office 2003 Small Business Edition (+Rs 12088)

Ofcourse, there are backup CDs, Recovery CDs if you ask for.Nowadays, Dell wont supply CDs but has inbuilt software (recovery option) built-in ROM so that systems can be retrieved but you loos any addition software or DATA added after the recovery date (ususally factory conditions)
