had credt and all been paid up on time, no arrears on anything, storecards better with nil balances, on the electoral roll, utility bills all paid, in employment, good general history on finance. this type of stuff will help

Pay your bills on time. Only have a few credit cards and don't have them maxed out. Don't close revolving accounts, even if you don't use them, if you close them, it's like you never had them at all!
