Hypericum perforatum, which is what St. Johns Wort is, is known to sometimes, when an overdose occurs, to cause anxious feelings ( i.e. shortness of breath, dizziness, nerousness, etc). Fortunately, it would take quite a bit of this particulat type of medication to have a serious affect on you. The best that you an do is have something to eat, try to relax, and drink plenty of water. At most, the physical side affects may include vomiting, cramps, constipation, fatigue, dry mouth/dry heaves, and loose stool. If any of these occur, you may take Mylanta or Pepto no less than 2 hours after ingestion of the St Johns Wort. Good luck, and please use more caution when taking medications.

Sounds like you are having an anxiety attack. Jus try and control your breathing. The dossage you took would not have any harmful reactions. The side effects would be more related to G.I problems than shortness of breath. The best thing to do is go sit outside, and take a deep breath, count to 2 exhale, count to 3 and inhale, and keep doing that until you feel better.

St John's wort is an antidepressant. So if you take too much it could make your systems work at a slower pace.
Your shortness of breath may just be caused by panic because you are worrying. Try to calm down and get a brown bag and breath in it. If your breathing does not improve its best you go to a doctor or go to the ER if you are worried.
Hope I could help.

It is best to do some solid research before you start taking a supplement. St John's Wort does have some side effects of which you should be aware. There are two other medications that you may want to check out at the same time. One is 5-HTP and the other is Sam-E.
