Do not avoid the things you like doing because you used to enjoy them while smoking. Coffee, and drinking are two times when most people want to light up. I quit cold turkey and did not avoid drinking and such. It was difficult but soon its doable. Just dont smoke. Its easy to give in when youve been drinking, its easy to blame it on the alcohol. Dont give in to the urge. You, Im sure, wanted a cigarette first thing in the morning but you still get up dont you? It will become just as easy with everything else. Just give it time and dont give in.

I quit drinking AND smoking (1½ packs a day) at the same time. After 12 days I decided to have a beer. Ended up with more than A beer! Knowing that a beer and a cig go hand in hand, I was very nervous. Absolutely nothing to it. Didn't wanna smoke at all. Good luck.

My daughters both quit smoking except when they have a drink which is usually once or twice a week. They go to a bar with friends, have a couple of drinks and a couple of ciggarettes. I did the same thing for years but no longer smoke at all and have not for about 4 years. I don't know if you can do this or not but we had no trouble with it and I finally totally quit. I think they will, too, eventually, because they are very athletic and do triathalons, etc.

I'm not going to say "Just don't drink". You've made a committment to give up smoking, why should you be punished by having to give up alcohol as well?
In early May, I gave up chocolate on the same day a close friend gave up smoking. I did this as a sign of support for her, but much to my horror, she has stayed off the smokes!!
To avoid chocolate, it is not easy. One trick I use is to find an alternative, like chew a piece of gum, or have some mints. Maybe if you're able to find an alternative to smoking whilst you are drinking, this will keep your mind off it.
Just remember, you've made a committment to give up smoking. If you have just one cigarette, all that hard work is wasted. If you put your mind to it, you will succeed.
Hope this helps! :)

I was also faced with being sorely tempted when I quit, I did choose the path of pretty much abstaining for a while and devoted myself to healthy activities, and when I was comfortable being a non-smoker I was able to drink with no problems, which didn't really take that long good for you for quitting!! it's hard - try to fill your life with new things - you have purged a bad thing, now get a good thing. Once again personal experience, I started filling my place with plants, and soon had a nice healthy green garden, all very happy to be smoke free :)

Hi! I quit smoking six years ago and still want one everyday especially after morning coffee, camping, in a car, and drinking alcohol. I just keep telling myself that my hair, breath and clothes will smell and my kids and people who love me are happier with me. Also I don't cough like I used to. Good luck to you sweetie! And don't give up the beer cuz a little is good for you.

I was working in a pub when I quit, it was tough but I made it. Enjoy yourself but if you're feel like smoking leave. A word of warning, when I first quit, I found I drank more than I would have before. The hand to mouth habit you know, before sip, smoke, talk, sip, smoke, talk: after sip, sip, sip , talk, sip, sip, sip, talk.
Be careful!
