About a year ago there was also a PBS special on the brain, including teenage brains. Science now knows that the prefrontal cortex of a teenager is not finished developing (which is why teens sometimes see things differently than older people) and may not be finished until "early- to mid- twenties". In view of this, I think it may be worth considering holding off on drinking until you're sure your brain isn't developing any longer.

It wont affect your height. But yes, your mental capacity can be affected. Alcohol kills brain cells. Too much makes you stupid, forgetful, clumsy and smelly(though typically not permanently). Its really good that you know its dangerous. Just dont do anything stupid--remember, even just a couple of drinks, while you may not think so, can hamper you cognitive abilities and reflexes enough to be dangerous in certain situations. STEP AWAY FROM THE HEAVY MACHINERY NOW!! ;)

Drinking lots of water can help counter the affects.

well actually that is a great question. beer which is made from yeast actually does the excact opposite of what you might think. it actually causes growth on many levels. That's why older guys who just sit around and drink all day get fat! If you pour alil beer on your flowers as long as not too much to dehidrate it will actually cause the plant to grow bigger faster than under normal treatment. So even though it does kill some brain cells thats not the problem. Your brain makes up for lost cells maybe not as fast as if you werent to lose any but its not enough to hurt or cause noticable damage. Where the damage occurs, besides to your liver, is your emotions and ability to learn. That's why you shouldn't drink till your 21 because if you started at 15 for instance, and didn't stop till you were 20. In many ways you would have the emotions and thought process as if you were still 15. It doesn't mean you can't learn from their on, because like i said your brain can repare if still in the earlier cycle of your life. So to me it shouldn't be so much of how early one can drink but they should have a law where after 40 or so you shouldn't be able to buy alcohol. Because someone who is 21 and a alcoholic for the next 50 years will have problems coping with adult issues. They might still have the mind frame of when they were 21. And that is a far greater evil then lets say someone younger havin a few beers. Because the alcohol even though havin lots of bad effects in peoples life it might actually help them to grow bigger and stronger if younger people were to use it use it responsibly. That's one reason why theirs no drinking limit oversees in places like germany. They have adapted the emotions of the younger not to be alcoholics but to cope with it and it hasn't been many negetive results. They still learn just like everyother kid. Your brain is harder to waste than what people like to believe.
