If you have your beliefs, and someone answers you that has a different belief (or no belief at all), is so defensive? Have I insulted you? If so, could you point it out for me? I would really appreciate it, sincerly.
I have attempted to ask a few questions in R&S, and each attempt leaves me feeling as though I have personally offended someone.

So please explain to me why are you so defensive?

I am sorry you have had that answer that leaves you feeling like people are defensive. alot of people in this world think that what they beleive and or practice is the "right" way and that anyone else is wrong are sorely mistaken. we are all blessed with free will to beleive as our hearts and needs direct us. my way is not necessarily the best way for you or anyone else. but I will stand up for your right to beleive what you wish (as long as it is moral & ethical) and i would hope that you would also stand up for my right to beleive the way i do. I beleive that we all are one people and we should all be treated as we would want others to treat us. I hope this answer gives you a "ray of hope" that not all people out here are defensive. some of us beleive that you are a heartled and questioning intelligent person. good luck and God bless you my friend.

Because they are unacceptable to any other thinking but their own. They are defensive because you re an abomination to them just for asking a question, so therefore you are evil to them. So you don't deserve an answer, just some bible quotes and defensive statements. And a few of them saying you are atheist even though you may not be.

I believe that people really want this forum to be a personal chat room instead of an answer and question forum for religion and spirituality. No religion or spiritual questions to be allowed it seems for those who are truly searching and wanting to know about other faiths. Keep posting questions,Please. Ignore the Demonic Trolls!

Shalom

Your unwillingness to embrace their specific faith makes you an enemy (or enemy of sorts) Read on.

Like most things in life, what one does not understand, one fears -and condemns.

It's unforunate, but true that this also applies to religion. If you do not believe in a god, or their God, or whatever, you are labelling yourself in opposition. That makes you a target or a "cause".

It's the "If you're not with us, you're against us" mentality. Only sometimes they chant to their diety to forgive you or convert you or whatever. That's the easy-way of interacting. The others will condemn you outright, call you a child of the devil (or whatever), or a "sinner" with a one-way ticket to the land of fire and brimstone.

It's pathetic. It's like forcing someone to believe (or chastising them for not believing) in an all-powerful mircobe on a lonely little planet in the far corner of the universe. No one would believe that. I don't. You don't. Most religious believers probably don't. So, that leaves one question... Should we shout "Praise be The Microbe!!" if we believe in it -and force others to also, or do we simply allow those that do not believe to have their freedom from belief?

Choose my answer or The Microbe will smite you!

I totally agree with Dropped. Couldn't have said anything better so I might as well join her. Like the saying goes, "if you can't beat them, join them."

But just to add a few of my own collective thoughts, sometimes they are extremist to their religion so when you mention even the slightest thing about their religion, whether it be sensitive or not, they will always retaliate. In a sense they are saying my religion is better than yours so don't even say anything about it. I could be totally wrong, but thats just my views.

I really do think people should try and put their comments in a nice way, becos you never know who it might hurt. But I don't think you did! :)
People just have VERY different thoughts (and that's a good thing), but don't take it to heart if they get insulted, especially if u put it in a nice way.
We all need to be more understanding and open-minded AND respectful! ;)
All the best girl!

i know exactly what you mean i see that all the time, i think the subject is so sensitive because people are actually insecure about what they do believe so they try and over compensate and shove it down your throat, or they freak when you don't exactly agree, seriously i think its because they aren't completely sure with their beliefs.
