In Islam, the name Israel actually came from a story where Jacob fought or wrestle with Archangel Izrail(the angel of death) and amazingly with God's will,Jacob won the fight.By God's order, Izrail suggested Jacob to use it's name as a sign of Jacob's prophecy where now his people were known as the Israelites. Are there any of you among Jews and Christians know this story?share your thoughts with us....

No, because I'm not a part of any religion. But I read in wikipedia:

The name "Israel" is rooted in the Hebrew Bible, Genesis 32:28, where Jacob is renamed Israel after successfully wrestling with a mysterious adversary.[8] The biblical nation fathered by Jacob was then called "The Children of Israel" or the "Israelites."

In the New King James Version of the bible, Genesis 32:24-32 tells that story, but not quite that way. Jacob wrestled with an angel of God, and He touched the socket of Jacob's hip, putting it out of joint. To this day, it is my understanding that Jews do not eat the meat around that joint of any animal. Literally translated, Israel means, take your pick; [He who strives with God, God strives, or God rules.] God reaffirms the name of Israel, and restates His promise of the land of Israel in Genesis 35:9-12

Sure the story is all different.

jacob wrestled with God himself (or a Christophenes) (Jesus preincarnated, since God is not seen)

At sunrise the story Goes, jacob declares he will not stop wrestling without a blessing. God Touched his hip socket, he walked with a limp, then god changed his name to Israel.

Short version - Go to the bible for the long story

I only know the story from the Hebrew Old Testament story in Genesis. I think Isalm is riddled with contrdictions and distortions. Muslims often times use the Bible to prove something out of the Koran and turn around and use the Koran to prove the Bible is full of lies. So it seems they pick and choose what is true in the Bible.

There are lots of good people in Islam. But Islam truly does teach that a Muslim who does not participate in Holy war is a hypocrite who will spend eternity in Hell.

Well, my understanding is the angel was the "angel of God" and not necessarily the angel of death. I know many orthodox Catholics who belive that anywhere that "angel of God" is used in the Old Testament refers to Jesus Christ or the Son Himself. Its certainly a very intriguing idea. They have different reasons as to why they believe that these specific words pertain to Christ instead of just a normal angel, but I cant remember them off the top of my head.
