How does working for lower wages and getting paid under the table support our economy? How does this help out our society? Please dont give me that bull about doing jobs that we don't want. I have cleaned hotel rooms and worked 12 hour shifts in hot sweaty warehouses in the past and there are no jobs that people don't want. Give some real answers and not excuses to allow illegals.

To the extent that "illegals" are paid under the table and without deduction or payment of tax and FICA, those paying them are criminals.

To the extent that an undocumented alien is physically within the United States, having arrived other than as an infant and not being classed a refugee or an exempt person (some "aliens" in fact have the right to live and work in the USA including Canadian indigenous peoples, citizens of Belau and Marshall Islands and noncitizen nationals of the USA, and some are tolerated: members of cross-border Mexican-American Indian tribes) s/he is a crininal.

The question is not "how do illegals make the economy better" but "who profits". Follow the money:

Most undocumented aliens coming across the southern border do so because they have lost their agricultural employment in Mexico -- because of NAFTA (Mexico has to buy American farm products without quota or duty) and because of American farm subsidies (corn and rice and sugar and cotton sold below cost because your taxes subsidize the agribusiness corporations that grow it). Mexican farm workers lost their jobs and could find no other, so they head north.

Ross Perot had said that US jobs would be sucked down to Mexico. He was wrong: they were sucked to China.

Follow the money: it's cronies of Bush who profit from low wages, kept low in Marxian and Malthusian terms by all the undocumented aliens.

And the Government benefits because unlike those who hire Mexicans for household work, farms and factories DO pay withholding tax and FICA -- which the undocumented aliens can never benefit from nor claim back.

It all contributes to the shrinking American middle class and the enriching of the American billionaire class. See the latest Forbes 400 Richest -- all billionaires.

I think "Intellect's" head was a little too big and missed the point, lost a few IQ point with that answer. The question was about illegals, not immigrants. Immigrants: using proper immigration routes. Essentially what "intellect" said about immigrants was correct but that kind of data can be manipulated to serve almost any purpose. It did not answer the illegal question.

"Andy" was a good answer except for the majority of migrant workers coming up because of losing their jobs in agriculture. Where that may be true about job loss, they were coming up in relatively the same numbers long long before NAFTA.

As far as "lazy Whites", but down the crack pipe and step away. I have seen many, many, many, in fact almost all "Mexican" legal and illegal workers work hard till the got the job full time then turn to crap, in the hundreds. Don't get me wrong I liked many of them, in fact most, very nice with a strong family values. Usually second generation "Americanized" are much better workers, kinda more like the "lazy whites".

Illegals don't help the economy. They make the Rich, richer and the middle class and poor poorer. They also worsen their over all chance(s) of creating a rising class, or growing the middle class.

We already have the laws they just need to be enforced.

Argiculture wanna pick fruits for hours a day get blisters on your hand????You to stain your body working a job like, and go braindead working???The reality is the workforce is shrinking and robots to pick fruits, and do low skilled jobs cost more money to produce than bring in guest workers. We live in the 21st and the world becoming more connected than it ever was and over time the nativists and nationalists will have a rude awaking when the goverment has to cut social security benefits because people were too pigheaded to see the reality of the situation of the need for more workers to support those retiring. The options are we build a stronger labor code that makes it so people will work these jobs or have a guest worker program. The most hurt by the guest worker program are high school dropouts, and according to most studies there wages only drop 8% that is with open borders. "We have to wake up and reality border security with no guest worker program is bound to fail"???? Also, Nafta speed this immigration process up it not just japenlos, and tomotas, cars come across Mexico?? People follow too with commodities. Vote in another free trade agreement gonna have the same problem. The fence is smoke screen that doesnt address labor rights for the poor, and encourages coyotes to smuggle more since the profits are higher???A fence without Guest Worker is a fail, and Fence with Guest worker is the best solution ??

They are not good for the economy at all.

But from their standpoint it is the most fantastic opportunity! More money than they've ever had and plenty of work etc. I do feel sorry for them but it is not the governments responsibility to provide for them. They should seek the correct channels to come here. plain and simple. If they are not allowed then you make the best with what you can.

However, it does keep more cash in small businesses which is good for their profit and revenue making. They can spend less on all their workers. This creates a stronger business and can look good on the official records for an economy which is growing becasue the businesses are doing well.

This is NOT what is desirable though, because it is giving a false statistic and the economy may even be on the decline and we would not know. The government should increase their efforts to remove these people form the country and also to prevent more coming in. They have a country and it is the job of their governement to provide for their people.

Its not bull, its reality. When was the last time you picked any type of farm fruits. Cleaning hotel rooms is your choice and I guess as far as you want to go. What is stoping you from getting an education and better job?? Are you illegal? You have choices, the illegals do not. They will take the first job. They are here to work and make a living just as you and I.

Illegals do NOT help our economy, they are a drain on it. The illegals will not answer you because they have no real justification for entering the USA illegally. There is no justification FOR it.

Illegals do have a choice. They can enter our country legally, as other immigrants do, or not come here. Wanting a better life and being willing to work for low wages is no justification for entering our country illegally. There IS NO justification.

Yep...they don't.

They are willing to do jobs for a much lower wage...which is why they thrive. If they were not able to do this these factorys, etc would have to pay a decent wage to American citizens...They make money here and send it back to their families in other countries...so not only are they providing a service for a lower wage than legal, they are obtaining state assistance on our tax dime and then they aren't even spending all of their money in our stores. In what way could that possibly help us? It doesn't.

They do NOT!

Harvard Professor Borjas reports that illegal aliens displace Middle American workers out of $200 billion annually in lost wages. Bear-Sterns report shows that illegal aliens work off the books and do not pay over $301 billion annually in uncollected IRS income taxes. You make up the difference. The illegals no longer work on the farm. They move into every Middle Class job in America and they undercut wages for America's working poor and destroy the living wages of the Middle Class. Additionally, the average illegal causes a net loss of $55,000.00 to US taxpayers during his work time the USA. Finally, we create cultural and linguistic apartheid by creating a slave class of workers unassimilated while growing in numbers and antagonistic strength. This condition creates a perfect formula for rioting and violence that will tear our nation to pieces!

I think you answered your own question pretty good.
They are a drain on the economy, don't learn our language, try and force us to cater to them and they spend our tax dollars to support them, and if you haven't noticed, everywhere they live becomes a run-down slum and crime center costing Americans even more.

I am all for legal immigration and coming to America to work hard, better your family, contribute to the country and assimilate into our culture
