I heard Jewish people where not allowed to do any other business other than lending at some point in History ... is it true? How did they make money out of lending? When did this happen?and who did this to them and why? Just heard that from my daddy (He is Catholic), I tried to google it but not sure what to search for. Your answers are appreciated Thanks!

It is not true, just another BS rumor intended to make people think less of us as a people. When our people DID lend money, the charging of interest was taboo, so if there was anyone who was actually FAIR when it came to moneylending it was us. NOn Jews could charge whatever they wanted to, while usury was against our laws.
edit: Ah, it is YOU Muslimah. I am sorry for answering so harshly, as I have learned that you are a special person, and I should have responded with more respect. But we have discussed this notion further in later questions. So please accept my apologies for being terse in this early question. I did not mean to disrespect your father in any way.

In the Old Testement, in Deuteronomy 23:20-21 it says "You shall not demand interest from your countrymen on a loan of money or of food or of anything else on whcih interest is usually demanded. You may demand interest from a foreigner, but not from your countryman, so that the Lord, your God, may bless you in all your undertakings on the land you are to enter and occupy."
Exodus chapter 22 talks about lending money, food, goods, and animals. No interest is to be gained from your brethren.
It was good to lend to the poor and to your family but you were not to charge interest because that would be selfish and full of pride, which pride is a sin. And if the poor could not pay your back, that was okay as well. They might be able to give you pick of their first harvest in the new year or the firstborn of their herd. Like in a bartering system.
Then in the New Testament, in Matthew 25:27 and Luke 19:23 tells about people lending money and putting it in banks and gained interest. This act was encouraged. But the interest gained was to be given to the poor and not given to the lender.

It wasn't that people who were Jewish weren't allowed to have any other job it was because the Catholic Church did not approve of Catholics receiving money for loaning money. So the industrious Jewish people saw this as an opportunity and provided a service that Christians needed but were not allowed to perform. The Catholic Church does not follow this idea anymore but unfortunately this is how the negative stereoypes came about.

i'm slightly puzzled approximately why you consult with the 'old testomony' - i'm valuable you recognize that's the Christian version of the books which make up our Hebrew Tanakh. in case you propose "could you advise the Tanakh?" - nicely, specific, yet in elementary terms reading it extremely is no longer the factor. the full flavour of Judaism is interior different interpretations, the disputes, the buzz of looking connections, and so on. So, a minimum of, get one or ideally a number of commentaries. ideally, learn with Jews, even a splash bit to get the belief of ways we attitude Torah and Tanakh learn. i'm a Jewish convert - i grew to become into born to a Jewish-born father and non-Jewish mom, the two one among them atheists.

It is true they were restricted to what they could do for a living. At one time they were not allowed to own land so they moved into the professional trades.

This is not true. It is the basic stereotype that lends itself to anti-Semitism, racist profiling, and the lunatic ravings of Mel Gibson. I suggest that you read Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" and then talk to a rabbi to get the historical facts.
