"What a wonderful world if there was no religion". -- John Lennon. Religion is the great separator of people. Remember that 9/11 happened because of Jihad (Holy War). People are getting fed up with religion voilence, it never ends.

I think that our world would be a better place and easier place to live for everyone. Look what's happening right now. Most of the war in the world right now(and in the past) is happening because of someone doesn't like someone else's beliefs. One world won't be happening with too many different religions and too many opposites beliefs and leaders, unless everyone respect other religions. Morals and the rules in our society is not based on the specific religion. You don't belong to any religious group doesn't mean you are a bad person. Good or bad should be taught at home and school, not in the church or temple, since each religion teach people in different way. That's what I think.

Atheism is defined by the Supreme Court (as well as many dictionaries) as a religion. So are many other beliefs. That's what religion is basically: your worldview.

So your question is based on a misunderstanding of truth. You should be asking a different question, such as: Which religion (or worldview) is true.

Now you may need to come to the realization that there is an absolute truth in all things. You first must rid your mind of all falsehoods. How is this to be done? Good question.

Does the moon cause the ocean tides? Yes, of course they do. This can not be refuted. It's something that has been proven true, absolutely true. Some people say that truth is relative to the truth seeker, or truth beholder, or truth imaginator (whatever that is). This is illogical and people cling to this faulty view so that they can hide from truth. But truth will seek you out and expose you, in this world or the next.

And what is next?

I think that people really need to have a way to explain things that are hard to understand such as why a child must get cancer & die or something. When you lose a loved one you want to have something to believe in as to what happens to them after they're gone to make it easier to grieve. I went to a really diverse school & learnt a lot about different cultures & religion & really - they all teach the same messages of love & being good to one another, it's just the way they go about it that's different & that's what causes the problem. When someone can't appreciate someone else's differing point of view & they take an extreme angle is what all these people fight over. I don't think we shouldn't have religion but I think people need to grow up & vive la difference, you never know - you may learn something by opening your eyes & seeing past your own nose.

If there were no religion on this world, it would be a good chance for me to start one, which would be a better religion than the existing ones currently available.

i think it would be a less interesting place to live in. i value diversity, not conformity. i can't imagine what the world would be like without the notre dame cathedral, the buddhist temples, the egyptian pyramids, the asian pagodas, the beautiful muslim mosques, the montmartre cathedral, the ancient monasteries... and have you seen the caodi temple in vietnam? its the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. so much would be lost, if religion would never have existed. i don't want to lose any of these things.

All religion is based on some moral code. Which in itself is not a bad thing. Nor is conscience (which some people need religion to back up). Like anything it is the abuse of religion that has made its bad points.

Definitely a better place to live. The good news is, that since February 2006 there is "Rational Spirituality", avalable on the Dhaxem website, that will sooner than you believe replace the religions with the sheer power of its logical argument.

Enjoy reading it. All those who can think for themselves, do.

My opinion is that our world would be a better place without religion....because we would all have to look within ourselves for answers. We would have to turn to each other (mere mortals), and ask if there is a higher power....a God?.

We would be more in tune with ourselves and with each other....and we would all be equally lost or equally saved.

The world would be a sad, dark ugly place, without religion.
People would have no faith and we would not know about the Lord.
