Do you remember when Jesus wandered in the wilderness? How about what he said on the Cross? You are not a mindless zombie. You were given life to find your own way and to question. It sounds like, as a child, you were told how things were and how you are to relate to God. Now when you are facing some of the hard realities of life, those beliefs which worked while you were young are not adequate.
You are blessed with the opportunity to discover your own relationship with God and your own understanding. This is a painful process because you have had security and now that is gone. What you stand to gain is an understanding that will carry through much more of the difficulties that lie ahead.
Certainly God doesn't want you to suffer or for anyone to suffer, but suffering is a condition of being mortal and of having choices. We can't make others do what we want. It's hard enough to set a goal for our selves and achieve it without disappointment.
This is a time for you to get a new perspective, try being flexible and forgiving. It is a time for you to grow spiritually. Maybe the growth will lead you back toward where you started, maybe not.
First you have to trust God just to listen. At some point, probably when you least expect it, you will see something that shows you He's listening. Who knows when? Just be open and let go of the disappointment you have been feeling.

As I'm understanding it, you're upset about the way your life's been going, and don't understand why it is if God really loves you, or even exists. But at the same time, you notice that as it's been bad, you also haven't been communicating with God for a while. So you notice a connection there, which may be the reason for your confusion...your spirit is conflcting with your mind (as they pretty much always do). But at the same time, you recognize your faith in God as a relationship, not just an object you put your faith into, which is good.
It's ok to doubt Him (God's used to that), for we read of Gideon doing such in the book of Judges. But like the first answer on here (it was the only one when I started this answer), you need to seek Him...step forward. It's also ok to blame God for everything (He's used to that, too), but if you're going to do that, then I think it's only fair that you tell Him what it is you're blaming Him for (He's God...He can take it). And in your venting, ask Him what you're wanting to ask Him..."Do you really exist or have I been following an idea forced upon me from childhood?" "Show me something so I know", "give me evidence", "prove to me..." He won't strike you down for asking this stuff, for it's a means of stepping towards Him. Read some scripture and let Him speak to you through them (Gideon begins in Judges 6).
I'll pray for you, too :)

Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened.
You were meant to question and explore.
In all your exposure the scripture, you should understand that one rule that God set down was there shall be no dominion over you while you are on earth. God can intervene, but often its a case of you have to learn by experience some things in order to grow. You say you blame God for everything that is wrong. It is convienient to have someone to bad blame things on isn't it. If you take a look, you won't find any puppet strings on your arms. Or on the arms of anyone you know. This is life. Things happen. Someone is usually hurt when they do. Some by bad luck, others by stupidity. If you are suffering, it is because you feel a need to suffer. Help and relief is readily available to you. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened.

You should not confuse God with a religion. Either you are God, or you are a religion. You cannot have the both of them. Where the one is, the other is not. My advice is to set all the religious nonsense aside but hold dear your belief in God and focus on living your life as best you can. It is not in your power to be either a success or a failure, so stop blaming yourself or God and just get on with being the kindest loving person you can be without being silly. You sound like a really nice girl. Hope your troubles clear up soon.

Avoid jumping to the rash conclusion that God somehow wants us to suffer or that he is personally testing us. It is true that suffering can bring out the best in us and that the Bible says that the trials God allows can refine our faith. (Hebrews 5:8; 1 Peter 1:7) Indeed, many people who undergo trialsome or traumatic experiences do become more patient or compassionate. But we should not conclude that their suffering was God's doing. Such thinking does not take God's love and wisdom into account. The Bible plainly states: "When under trial, let no one say: 'I am being tried by God.' For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone." On the contrary, from God comes "every good gift and every perfect present"!—James 1:13, 17.
There are many reasons why God has permitted evil to happen and, believe me, there are wonderful ways to regain a really good relationship with God. You can also be His "friend" just as Abraham was.
E-mail me at findjoynow@yahoo.com. I will be more than happy to discuss this with you and help you regain your faith. You will never regret it!!! :-)

Ally T,
1) Stay away from Catholicism. There are too many fallacies in it.
2) Get into the word of God. How are you going to know him if you don't find out what He is like?
3) The Bible says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So faith is coming to your ears through a preacher. Here is a preacher that I think that nearly everyone likes:
http://www.twft.com/?page=SundayMorning
There are a lot of messages on that site. Chuck Smith is respected as giving the Gospel message in a very inoffensive way. Just listen to him as you are on the computer. Your help comes from God, if you trust Him!

In a since you were forced to believe in Him.The Bible says to repent and be baptized Acts 2:38.Did you get the chance to repent of your sins before you were baptized or did some one take your choice away and just baptize you ?"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved ; but he that believeth not shall be damed"Mark 16:16.Did you believe when you were baptized or did someone else do that for you to ?Do you know what it means to be Born Again ? Read, John 3:1-21,Try a different church I go to the Assembly of God,but don't let me choose for you, start reading your Bible and spending time with God in prayer ,ask Him to start leading you.He Will and your whole life will change.

Please listen to all I have to say before you make a judgement. The Catholic Church teaches a 'works based salvation. Visit this site below:
http://www.christiananswers.net/q-sum/sum-r005a.html
This page has a short essay on the difference between Biblical Christianity and Catholic Christianity.
I am 29 years old and have only believed for two years or so. When I first believed, I was taught a works based salvation similar to Catholicism. I was about to give up on God about six months ago. I still believed in God but thought I was too far from being saved because I thought I was not good enough or that I would never be able to do the kind of works that were required of me. It also is a real pain living your life never being assured of your eternal rest.
After much pain and sadness, disgust and regret, prayer and still some hope, God woke me one morning and showed me the truth. How one is saved.
You must give up your life to Jesus and him alone. This may sound too simple, but it's the truth. If you read the Bible you will remember the thief on the cross. Jesus told him he would die and be saved into paradise with God. He didn't do any works except to believ. He cast his cares and fears on Jesus. That's one of the things he does for us when we submit, ie., he calms the fears and takes our troubles away. Trust in him in all things and you will find your peace.
Jesus died to free us from the wrath of God because of sin. He also freed us from sin and the curse. He freed us from the flesh and it's wants and needs. All you must do is believe, repent, and accept his salvation. Trust in him alone to save you; not the church or some priest. Do you notice the Catholic Church has you confess to a priest and not to God. The book of Hebrews tells us that there is only one mediater between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. That includes also the 'Quenn of Heaven' Mary. She is no coredemptrix. She is not now or ever will be part of the Godhead.
Please listen to me and pray to God for the truth. He is real. He is true. He is light and in him is no darkness at all. He knows the troubles you are facing and the doubts and fears and what not that you are facing. Talk to him in all sincerity and truth, coming before him with humility.
He answers all prayer, albeit, not necessarily the way in which we expected. He is true and His Son is true.
Bless you. And do not turn 'from' the living God, but 'to him'. He will save you. Jesus is all you need. Read his word.
In love... Jim.

I went through the same thing. well in blaming God for everything, and believing that if he was real that he wouldn't let this stuff happen. But the truth is, he works EVERYTHING for the good.
Even if you cant see it right now, you will realize later just what he was preparing you for.
You grew up in church, you know all about God, but do you KNOW Him?
pray. talk to him as if he were a friend sitting right next to you.
tell him your failures and victories, your worries and cares,
your desires and dreams, that you love him.
Make a conscious choice to seek his face until you get to know Him.
It may take a while but you will get there.
God bless you,
I will pray for you.

Hello,
Do you know Keith Green? He was born into a Christian family, so he knew about God. His existing wasn't a question. But he started to live life in his own way, and it went well for a while. But then all of a sudden everything crashed around him, and he was there with many problems, searching for answers... He cried out to God, 'If you're there, show yourself to me!' And he did. Keith's life was completely changed, came to know God and lived a life with God, knowing Him personally.
God says: 'All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.' (Mat 11:26-27)
He's there waiting for you to be ready to give him your life completely, making Him the Lord - and then He can help you. I'll pray for you to find God. God bless you!
