By all means go with Uniden. If you want security pick a digital with either a 2.4 frequency or 5.8 frequency. The 2.4 D and 5.8 D phones go for about $50 to $60 and much higher depending on features. $30 phones are ok but no features or security.

In my house we have had Pasasonic and they work great. They comeout with new ones where they have a colored screen and you can make your own ringers and add picture Id, just like cell phones. and They last a very long time. My house is very clumsy and people are always dropping them and they still keep working. We only buy new ones because of the range. From 900mhs to 2.8mhs and 5.8mhz.Plus they have all price pionts. They are good solid phones.

I always had the best results with Uniden phones. They sound clear, are easy to use and last a good long time. Plus they are priced in the middle of the pack.

in my opinion they are mostly crap out there. I picked up a pack of 3 cordless phones from costco. They ususally sell good stuff, but I hate to say, these too are not very good....
