Chlorines and antibacterial lotions (containing alcohol) will dry out the skin. Yes, they kill bacteria, but they also "age" your hands before their time.
I recommend going to Bath and Body and get a good moisturizing hand lotion, and drinks plenty of water to get you skin springy and not brittle, especially with winter around the corner..
Also, go to wal-mart and spend two bucks on a pair of dishwashing gloves, a good pair.

You're probably using the wrong lotion. The right lotion should be immediately absorbed by the skin once applied. If it creates lotion marks and takes quite a few rubbing before it dispappers on the skin, then its the wrong lotion. I swear by body butters... Can I recommend a brand? Body Shop's body butters keep my skin supple the whole day inside our dry super cold office. I have seen other brands like Philosophy & L'Occitane with same body butters.

Never again use bare hands to do the laundry, always wear gloves. It takes time to have your soften hands back.
Perhaps you may look for some special lotion which stays in your hands longer that are available in any drug stores. Keep apply lotion whenever you have the time.
Think positive, at least your hands does not crack or it will be worst.

Check out www.breezybeachwear.com in a week or two. They are currently testing their new Beachy Clean Line of natural soaps. They have one that I tested called the Oatmeal Cookie Bar. It is GREAT at moisturizing!

Olive oil makes your skin VEEEERYYYY smooth. Victoria secret is good to (& it better be sice it casts so dang on much lol). Wash your hands with something like Dove's soap (that's good). I advise you to get someone else to do those dishes.
