i have known this girl for about a year and a half, and have liked her from the get go. at the time we started to get to know each other however, she was with one of my good mates so i never really pursued anything. hes since told me that he doesnt mind if i go for it, cos it was just a bit of fun for him, where as i actually like her. she will say hi and talk to me when i see her out, and maybe a bit of flirting but that is all. i think its only friends in her eyes, and if i ask her out, im sure the friendship will go as well. also i am much uglier than my mate, so my chances are quite slim. adding to this, she is the sister of another good friend, and i dont really look forward to coppin it from all my mates when she says no. i have not stopped liking her since meeting her, and dont know how to get her out of my head. what can i do?

Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?

ask her out sumwhere like just down 2 the local shopping center or sumwhere 2 grab a bite to eat, keep it all pretty low key, if she is treating u like only a mate, then perhaps u have 2 accept thats all ur gonna eva be, but if she is flirting with u lots or acting like its a date then tell her that uve always thought she is pretty amazing, and go from there...

Let her know exactly how you feel. It bothered me when guys did not approach me. Get it out in the open. Even if she is not interested she would not want to lose your friendship. If she is than what do you have to lose? Do not keep your feelings bottled up inside..express them freely. Do not sell yourself short...everyone is unique, special and attractive in God's eyes!

Get to know her more. Don't just speak to her in passing ask her out. And get some confidence dont doubt yourself or your battle is already lost

Ask your friend to ask the girl if she loves anyone or would like to go out with anyone. You' ll know where you stand.

just tell her you like her. ask her if she likes you too. whatever her answer is, just always make her feel special.
