I am interested in becoming a police officer, however I'd hate to spend a lot of time going through the process only to find out that I will be disqualified in the end. Concerning eczema , I have not had an outbreak for about 6 years, and it was not major.

Suicidal ideation is not an accurate description, but there is a record of this on an old medical chart. I have never attempted or seriously considered this as an option. In fact i volunteered for a suicide hotline.

Medical records are intensively considered in an application for a policeman. Anyway, you records might be considered.

Be prepared to explain during your initial staff meeting how grounded you are as a human being and that suicide was never an option. You must review your past and be able to point out the obvious high points.

Also, was this suicidal information taken while you were a juvenile or adult? That can make a difference. Check and see if those medical records are protected by Hipaa http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa/

By the way, Being in Law Enforcement can be depressing at times...........make sure that is really what you want to do.

Anything concerning the word "suicide" is not a good thing on your record when one wants to become a police officer. They don't know if you'll have issues with it again and unfortunately they will see you as having the potential of becoming emotionally unstable, which will be undesireable for them considering you would be carrying a gun. Anyway whether or not it will disqualify you, I don't know, but it will be nearly impossible to find a job.

My friend's husband went through the academy but was unable to find a job in police work because he admitted to trying LSD once back in high school (he's nearing 30 now). He didn't want to lie, and he was unable to get a job in law enforcement after that.

My little boy had eczema on his cheeks. I was not sure what method to use but I didn't want to make my boy go through any surgery treatments at this young age. Some suggested a plastic surgeon since it was in a very visible location but our family doctor recommend this natural guide.

Best Eczema Treatment?

In my experience of being a background investigator, you most likely would not be hired if you admitted to have had suicidal thoughts. The department/city would not want to risk it.
But without having all the facts you could go through the process and if you get that far when it comes time to explain what happened just tell the truth. Then if you were not hired I would not go through another police hiring process again.

The suicide thing can be held against you, because the police dept. cannot have anyone out in the street whose head is NOT screwed on right. If this has happen a long time ago, say over 10 years, you may have a chance, but be up front, if asked about this.

Eczema patients can avoid scratchy fibers for softer ones like bamboo, cotton, or silk, which are gentler on the skin. Opting to buy organic fibers can also be a wise, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. Learn here https://tr.im/r3hba

eczyma should not even be a concern.
it is not contagious.

however, a breakout can sometimes get bad enough to cause an "ulcer" opening. that would be a medical risk to those who touch you or you touch them. probably need a doctors (hopefully personally family doc) that can say you havent had any bad outbreaks.

same for the "suicide" issue. I believe if it was LONG ago, then they look past that, or they may require you to get another medical evaluation.

one city might not accept you, but another might.
