I have made a commitment to only use all natural products (face cleanser, moisturizer, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, makeup) for the past 5 - 7 years and I cannot tell you the impact it has had. I used to break out all the time before I went natural and soon after they were reduced by so much. Everytime I use anything with chemicals I break out like crazy. It's important to research ingredients to know exactly what you are buying and putting on your skin (which is absorbed into your bloodstream!). Don't be a blind consumer.

Well, there's dry skin, oily skin, combination skin and ... acne, it just happens to some people (even to poor people in poor countries). Probably don't see a lot of people with acne either because, those that suffer from it don't want their picture taken (like I didn't) OR ...there's not a lot of cameras around(?).
I do think chemicals are necessary sometimes to achieve balance (moisturizer for dry skin, astringents for oily skin, etc.).
If you go to any third-world country, you'll see that most likely, the less unfortunate (financially) middle-aged people from this country (*used as an example just to show skin change) won't have the "better" skin in comparison to someone in the same country that uses certain chemical beauty products.
Go for pH-balanced cleansers. Our skin has a pH of roughly 5.5. Use cleansers with a pH of 5.0-5.5 and you won't cause damage.
Oh, and I base this on having had mild/moderate acne for years, doing quite a bit of research on skin care and having lived in a third-world country early in my teens.

Acne really depends on a lot of factors.
A big part of it is genetics. There's also the environment you're surrounded by -is there a lot of pollution? Are you using the right type of cleansers for your skin type? etc. There's also diet & exercise - drinking more water makes your face cleaner, while I'm sure you know what the effect of greasy foods does. =)
So I don't think not washing faces is going to solve the acne problem...

I don't know about not washing myself, but I do agree with you about all the chemicals we use daily that affect our skin. Hair products, byproducts of skin treatments, dust, dirt and constantly touching our face doesn't help one bit. What can help is keeping your face clean and using less chemicals. Instead of using hairspray or toner everyday, try every other day. We can calm down on the chemicals and still have a radiant clean face.

its probably the weather conditions, and more pollution in well developed areas, not to mention the fast food and junk we eat. I wouldnt reccomend not washing your face. I was mine 2 times a day and have no acne... if I miss one washing, ill get a zit. Sooo. if you have acne issues, use pure Tee Tree oil. U can find it in pharmacy like shoppers drug mart, or just the pharmacy section of a grocery store. after washing, put tee tree oil on pimples and they will disappear, as this will kill bacteria and dry them out.
