A kiss to say goodbye.
by Melissa Vipond

With a soft kiss on the cheek,
your skin touched mine.
I could feel it was different from the rest.
I sent shivers down my spine.

It was the last kiss.
The special kiss goodbye.
The very last emotion,
I'd see in your deep eyes.

You stood there in the wind,
looking scared but sure.
Looking strong from your decision
that you could not be with me anymore.

The whole mood had changed,
you stood by your choice,
too scared to listen to me,
ignoring my voice.

Holding me tight,
you told me to stay.
You said you didn't want this,
but there was no other way.

I'd have kissed you forever,
if I'd had known it was the last.
I'd have changed the future,
if i knew we'd fade in the past.

Now your not with me,
i feel lonely and cold.
Now I'm empty inside,
back to this feeling that feels so old!

Not Yeats, but what I got.
