My boyfriend that I have been with almost a year gave me a gorgeous ring. He says it is more than a promise ring but it is not my engagement ring. So what does the ring mean? He says one day we will get married, but this just not the right time. Why do men have to be so complicated in these matters?

Could be a Memento ring…
An object or item that serves to remind one of a person, past event, etc.; keepsake; souvenir.
Take it for a great present for some one that loves you.
Ever time you look at the ring you will have tangible proof that you are loved and cared for.
Your boyfriend did some thing nice don't punish him for it by asking a million question. Be thrilled that you have a wonderful man that wants to adorn you with riches!

Did you try asking him and seeing what he says? It sounds like he really wants to be engaged but has big plans for you he can't quite accomplish yet. Look at it this way, you get three rings some girls only get one! Sit back and enjoy the ride, sounds like you've got someone great. Let him be great.

Well if you're both still in college or High School that's probably why he said he's not quite yet ready for marriage. You should both establish your careers and be self supportive. But by giving you that ring he's telling you he'll always be there for you until he can support the two of you.

Because they are sometimes clueless...at least he gave you a great ring, enjoy it for the present it is, but dont read too much into it right now. think of it as a gift

It keeps you hanging on while he goes out and plays without "messing up" on you. He's leaving an "exit door" in your relationship. Sell the ring and go out with the girls...

It means he wants a long term relationship without the finality, expense, or legality of marriage. Why don't you just ask him to be honest with you? Guys like directness.

Well, we have to do something to keep up with the freakin crazy level of complication that women bring into relationships.
