Christianity, then is not a welcome religion. So, if anybody, even a Roman centurion converts to Christianity and is known by the public, he/she will be persecuted. I read that they are used as preys/gladiators against the lions or are beheaded.

Well, they did it for money and fame. It was like a business to them. Shame on them. They did it because they hated Jesus Christ, but he was so popular and they didn't want people to think that the Romans were bad. Romans even published and edited the bible, you know?

depends, honestly. if he was open about his religion, he would be called an enemy of the state and fed to the lions in the colloseum, or if he kept is newfound religion in the dark, he would now lead a double-life of a roman soldier and a christiamn dwelling in the catacombs of rome.

having not been there myself, i couldn't be sure. i don't imagine any life would improve at any time in history once he started believing in a ridiculous cult myth.
