I've been recently having trouble with high-school. My mother thinks it's a good idea to put me in homeschool. What do y'all think?

Being home schooled for 6 years i have a little credabillity on the subject. Yes, your social life will become next to nothing but if that dosent matter that much to you the benefits outway the cons. Looks excelent on college resume, 4 hours of school a day, no homework, less distraction. I personaly would not recommend the route but if school is important to you than definetly go for it.

Homeschooling is great!! You get to interact with people of ALL ages and backgrounds which better prepares you for the "real" world. Colleges are falling all over each other trying to get homeschooled kids because they know that homeschooled kids are independent motivated learners, which is what college is all about. You don't have all the high school drama and pettiness that no one needs anyway to grow up to be happy, productive adults. I have also talked to many teachers that have told me they wished they would have homeschooled their children. Although I did have one tell me that there was no way she could handle homeschooling her kids!! She can't teach her own but she expects me to let her teach mine?? Yeah right!! Plus homeschooling is so much fun! My daughter loves school time and we have a great support group that we meet with all the time, in fact we are going camping this weekend. Socialization is not an issue, I can't remember how many times I was told in school that I was not there to socialize and got marks on my report card for talking in class, so the socialization arguement isn't even a factor!!

Homeschooling has changed a lot in the last 20 years, so there's more support available. Homeschooling depends on the parent/guardian's level of effort. One person described it as the "Oxford System." Another asked me "if you could get customized curriculum, paced and adjusted to your son's learning style, taught by someone with Magna C_m Laude from an Ivy League school, would you do it?"

Research it carefully. Homeschooling isn't for everyone. But neither is public school. You have to decide what is right for you and your family.

The parent or guardian needs to be prepared to get involved in other extra-curricular activities. Athletics, service organization, etc. There are a lot of groups to get you out and about. Local youth orchestra, athletics, 4H, Scouts, etc.

I've been homeschooled since kindergarten and I've been ahead and I have a lot of friends who are also homeschooling. But it would be hard to start homeschooling in the middle of high school. I don't think it would be a good idea for you.

Home schooling is great! I finished two years early and now at the age of 18 I'm on my second year of college; with a scholarship! It's best to do correspondence where you send it in to be graded. I suggest AMERICAN SCHOOL out of Lansing Ill. I also went to public school for four years and you have just as good of social life or better when homeschooling. Give it a try!

Here are some things to consider in regards to home schooling.

1. Are you motivated enough to do the work in a non-controlled enviornment?
2. Is there a legit reason to pull you out of school, such as unsafe enviornement, lack of alternative schools to choose from, problems with a particular teacher that is unresolvable.
3. Are you going to try to graduate early? This is often a reason for home schooling as that many advanced students feel the structured enviornment goes too slow.

Think about these three when it comes to deciding. Only you know yourself well enough to decide.

If it's something both you AND your parents want. Make sure you join a co-op so you have homeschooling friends to go to classes and activities with. You parents need to be highly involved and very supportive. It can work very well in your favor to be homeschooled because you won't have all the peer pressure to distract you from learning.
Good luck!
