Yep; I've read them both, cover to cover, and they are quite ridiculous. The Book of Morman is bigger in ridiculousness, but so much smaller in scope, that your two are the undisputable champs.

I think they are pretty high on the list of the top 20 biggest biggest cons in history. The only problem is that they were both needed as unifying political strategies to allow peace an enable trade among warring factions. It is the perversions of both sets of teachings that cause problems. Both religions were born of violence in very violent times, and needed the militant aspects included to enforce the rules about acceptable behaviour. Muslims the sword. The Xians taking the old Testament laws about punishments. The major difference was Islam was developed to unit and pacify loosely related desert tribes and Christianity was supported by the military might and legal system of the Roman Empire. The Romans wanted to use Christianity as a prop for their faltering Empire. It worked in both cases. Islam united the Arab world, Christianity(roman catholic)still holds shreds of the Roman Empire together, staving off total collapse for over 1700 years.

Ask God and pray about it. I find that both books have some wisdom and truth. These books spiritually enrich the lives of people. The fanatics they can create is a bad byproduct. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. I don't think they are "con-jobs". I think Gods hand played a part in much of both of them, there are elements that are not fully translated correctly though. Read the Book of Mormon. Now that is true.

As a Christian, I must tell you that the Holy Bible (King James Version) is not a hoax. It is very real and nobody should take it for granted. It provides everything anyone would ever want to know about life and how to live right by God. For those of you who do not worship Jesus Christ, I strongly urge you to start believing. I'm sure none of you want to burn in the unquenched fires of Hell for all eternity. Just think about it. Is living this life in sin really worth spending your eternal life burning in Hell.
