I wrote this for all who have lost their loving father.and for mine.

My Dad

My dearest dad 'I love you',
I think of you each day.
I feel your arms around me,
that's how I get through my days.

Your looking down upon me,
to guide me on my way,
but its very hard without you,
each and every single day.

People always tell me,
the grieving will subside.
But how can I feel better,
without you by my side.

No matter how hard they try,
there is always so much pain,
I am all consumed by thinking,
It will never, be the same.

I know one day we'll meet,
in the Heavens up above.
It's the only thing that helps me,
to never forget, your love.

My dearest Dad, I love you,
Your with me every day.
I will keep this love within me,
forever, until that beautiful day.

This poem says it all. We want to say so much, but their time is up. We want to keep them around for ever, but God has other plans. We pray that we will see them again in the next life.

I am really sorry for your loss. Here is a great song I think you might like.
It's Not Far
By Newsong

My dad seemed ten feet tall
When I was just a kid
And if you asked me who my hero was
I'd quickly tell you it was him
He must have had a thousand stories
I must have heard a million times
But I'll never forget as long as I live
Us kneeling down that day
Him teaching me to pray(he said)

Chorus:
It's not far from here to Jesus
His loving arms are open wide
Close your eyes and he will lead you
Safely to his side
There's no need for you to fear him
You can trust him with your heart
And it's not far
It's not far

I couldn't help but wonder how
The years have gone so fast
With every breath dad fought to take
I knew could be his last
And as we gathered round his bedside
And fumbled through what we would say
I bowed my head and began to cry
And whispered in his ear
My last goodbye(and said)

(Chorus)

Bridge:
There is no distance
From the love of God
He's always there to hear our prayer
And answer when we call

(Chorus)

From here to Jesus
It's not far
It's not far from here to Jesus
It's not far from here
It's not far from here to Jesus
It's not far
It's not far
It's not far from here
It's not far from here to Jesus
It's not far from here

May God bring you comfort and strength in your journey.

Yeah - good stuff Kenny P. I lost my dad when I was 8, and that was 47 years ago!! I remember him like it was yesterday and I miss him all the time - even now.

Lost my mom when I was 15, no brothers or sisters - so it is just me and I remember her loss like it happened yesterday as well.

That was beautiful. I lost my dad a year and a half ago, but a part of me still hurts. It helps to have an outlet to keep the good memories alive. :)
