I have, an old soul of a cat, pain in the bum at times, had her since she was six weeks old,but after 19 years what can you expect, she was deaf, had a wart under one eye and had a matted patch on her back, but we believed she was well enough, and happy, anyway, the other night she was hit by a car and killed instantly,i could deal with that, but a group of teenagers found her body before we could(we were out looking) threw and kicked her about the street while filming it on the phones, then dumped her body in a random wheely bin, sick bastards if you ask me,what a bloody way to end her life,we havnt slept properly since this happened and my 11 year old daughter cant stop crying. Has a crime been commited,or is this worth reporting to rspca? thanks for reading x

Thank you for all your kind words...well most of you, just to clarify, she loved going out and i found it very difficult to keep her or my other cats in the house,i did not stand and watch this happen,my son who is 15 was told about it from a friend who had been sent the film through bluetooth, and showed him the film. I have two other cats and a dog that were all rescue animals,so please dont slate me,as all i want to do is give a little love and happieness to my pets that didnt start there lives so well and i wish my old cats days were ended in a nicer fashion. (she was as well a rescue cat that was about to be drowned by a farmer who had too many kittens)

Oh I'm so sorry. It MAY be destruction of property. This would be brought to the police department, not the RSPCA. They only deal with abuse of living animals. If you believe AT ALL that the teens killed her, you may have a case with them, but not if it happened this way.
Of course, you have to have evidence (the body) if you want to file charges of destruction of property, and that may be more upsetting than it's worth. Give your daughter a hug, though. She needs one right now.

So sorry about your kitty. Nanny has a good point about cruelty to animals being the start of psychopathic behaviour and it might be a good idea to have a word with your local community police officer, if you have one. The RSPCA are always interested in cases of animal cruelty, but as your poor kitty was already dead I don't know if they could do anything. If the teenagers were all from the same school you could try contacting the school to see if they could run some sort of awareness campaign. Hope your daughter feels better soon.

That is awful, i cant believe there are people out there like that. I'm really sorry to have to tell you that i don't believe it is a crime as in the eyes of the law cats are seen as vermin (although obviously they are pets and part of the family at times this is just the way they have been classed from the olden days) and due to it not being alive it would not come under cruelty to animals,, which may also answer the question re the RSPCA, however i would still ring the local police to have it logged, especially if you know who these people are as there may be an offence somewhere in what they have done and also ring the RSPCA and ask them, I have spoken to the RSPCA on a number of occasions within my job and they are so helpful there they will be able to tell you exactly what they can do and try and help. I'm really sorry you have gone through all this and i hope there is something that can be done and that these people are bought to justice in some way. best wishes x

First of all, I am so sorry. :( Not only for your loss, but for knowing her last minutes were not good ones.
I would definitely call the police and Humane Society in your area. If you saw them do this, you are a witness. If the animal was alive when they did this, that IS animal abuse. (I dont know the laws of after the animal is deceased) As someone else mentioned, anyone who can do that to animal is one step away from hurting a child.
Even if they cant press charges, consider writing to your local politician to tell him what happened and encourage stronger laws against animal abuse. The laws out there are pathetic to say the least. It would be a good lesson for your daughter as well, to take the tragedy which has occured and do all you can to ensure it does not happen to another person's pet. (or wild animal for that matter) What I mean for your daughter, would be to make the most of a bad situation. It will help her (and you) to know you are honouring your pet's memory by doing all you can.
I know you are grieving...but if you do get another cat, please do keep it inside. You know these type of people are in your area and you def. do not want to give them another animal to possibly hurt. :(

Those kids should be reported to the police. This is definitely a symptom of sociopathic personality disorder, and they or at least the "ringleader" will, no doubt, search out other similar "thrills". The police need to be aware so they can watch these kids. And where are their parents? Do you know who the parents are? If so, you should definitely let them know, but be careful, the reason the kid(s) are like this may have to do with the parenting, or lack thereof. I'm sorry for what happened and I feel very bad for your daughter. My husband and I are cat lovers and a neighbor's dog dug under the fence into our yard and killed one of our cats. My husband went over there and told them that he would kill their dog with his bare hands if he ever sees it in our yard again. Two wrongs don't make a right, but maybe those kids need to be taught a lesson.

That's really really fuckin disgusting, excuse my bad language but that is really sad. Poor old thing... it's a shame THEY wern't hit by a car. It's a good thing she wasn't still alive when they were kicking her around... at least she was spared that.
I'd report it to the RSPCA and ask their advice. I'm sad to say it's probably not a crime, but there may be something that you can get them for.
I'm very sorry for your loss, after 19 years it must be very hard to lose her.
I would get a new cat, not to try to replace your old cat but because you can save another cat's life by getting one. Maybe while you are at the RSPCA getting a new cat or kitten you could ask them about what those teenagers did.
PS Make sure you get a cat from the RSPCA or thats one more cat that will be euthanised :(

Your cat had a great life and you can be sure that she was killed instantly in the car accident and did not suffer. Those stupid kids did not affect her life.
For the sake of your children and to help you all move on I recommend reporting this incident to the RSPCA (don't expect anything to happen) and your animal welfare officer at your local authority.

WHAT WERE U THINKING? I can't really believe that u would just stand inside and watch this kind of cruelty go on. U should have reported this abuse to the ASPCA, they would have looked into it. If these kids r doing this now(however old they may b) just think what kind of adults they r gonna turn out to b. U should of done something, This SHOULD bother u. And anyway, why would u let a cat that is deaf go outside. WHAT WERE U THINKING?
