Check this site out.

Log in as a guest and you can view fares, but you can't purchase them from the site.

After watching "Today" this morning I would check Orbitz, and carrier's site directly and then CALL the carrier to compare. They were talking about how on a single flight there were people that paid from $50 to over $800 for a ticket. This is the same flight!!! When comparing 2 men sitting side by side I believe one man paid 8xs the fair of the other.

They mentioned that the conditions that affect pricing change every minute and also that the representatives have some discretion either way when they quote you a price for a ticket.

It all depends on when/where you're going. Try Yahoo Farechaser...here's the link.

http://farechase.yahoo.com/

It will search mutiple locations (including orbitz) all at the same time.

There is no one best place. Shop around for every fare, every time.
