I agree with other posters that going with friends/family is the best choice - but we all know that reality is that that may not be an option. From there, I'd ask friends who have nannies - see if they know of anyone looking for a temp job. After that, I'd either go to an agency (although, you can expect to pay them - and more and more nannies are NOT using them) or I'd look online - post at craigslist.com or sittercity.com. See if there's someone there who can help you with your short-term need.

use family members or a good friend and if this is not possible, ring a reputable nanny service( get references from people that you can call and talk to) if the service doesn't offer references look at other services, you need to be absolutely certain who you are leaving your children with. good luck

Check with family or co-workers. Get several references. Have at least one if not a few meetings so you get to know who she is and the children are used to her...And as I did for my recent honeymoon---get a background check online...just to be sure.
