Let’s see if the "Military Intelligence" can answer this one. When the whole Iraq war began our commander and chief told the American people 1. Iraq possesses a threat to world peace 2. Has WMD 3. Has links to Osama bin laden. the Iraq government denied all these things and we clearly now know that none of those things were true. However N.Korea is a self admitting threat to the world and has and states it has WMDs and that they will not stop making them, and yet we are in no rush to stop them? Why? Hmmm maybe because they have nothing we want? Like oh lets say OIL?

That was more of a statement than a question.

That is true! You must remember, N Korea is no Iraq! The last time we visited them we had 33.741 dead and 103,000 wounded! In addition we had 1.7 Million troops in the Far East! Our entire armed forces now is 1.2 Million and we have 150,000 in Iraq!

If N' Korea came over the 13th parallel. at least 1/2 or more of our troops in Korea would be killed in less than 48 hours!

Finally, not ONLY does N Korea have no oil, they would be tough and we don't have the forces! We could not win on the ground in Korea! You must remember the reason for the ceasefire was the Chinese entered the war! Those are powerful allies and the one country that could, soldier wise, annihilate us. The military and the government forgot the 1st rule! Tanks, and rifles, and grenades don't win wars, people do! We have spent too much on technology getting ready for the one strike we do not want, and neglected how we have won all the wars in our history, though the A-Bomb helped when we killed 250,000 innocent men, women and children in Japan! No one else had the bomb then! Now is different!

True. But another reason is that even if the NK army can be wiped out by the U.S Kim Jong Il promised that he would take
as much with him as possible. They say they can easily nuke Nk but they do not care about their peoplee unlike Japan. Yes
it is also true with the oil thing. But another reason is that Venezuala would also stop shipment as NK and Venezuala are allies. And the U.S does not like to attack countries that can
actually fight and cause 20,000 deaths in 6 months depite the
fact that NK can be defeated by the U.S in a matter of 7 months or so. But they will certainly prove a fight. And even if the are defeated the straglers would give the rest of their chemical and bilogical weapons to terrorists. It would without doubt be a nuclier war.

The world is not as simple as you make it out to be.

North Korea is dead center in Eastern society. It lies as a crossroads to both China and Russia.

To begin a war in Korea would mean that U.S. soldiers and armament would be placed in Chinese/Russian territory. The Chinese and Russian governments don't want to see a flare up of war within their spheres.

Thus, the correct move to make is to come to an agreement with China and Russia on North Korea and let them handle the problem themselves.

This solution would allow for both nations to keep their territory as their own without the U.S. being involved in a physical sense.

The virtue of prudence escapes you. You want to create blanket rules that should govern international politics. Simply, to be successful at international politics, you must be much more flexible than you are willing to allow.

The world is not as simple as "make war when you feel like it." The nations that surround where you make war have a great deal to do with your eventual success or failure in an area.

And for the point on oil. If it is simple as saying "we went to Iraq for oil," please show me proof of this? If this clearly the reason for the Second Gulf war, surely you can easily demonstrate it for me?

By using the term "oil" as a one-liner, you affirm that you hold a belief and not the truth.

Dats true. They are only interested in OIL. On top of that they are cowards. They fear Korea. And in future these Eastern countries will rule the world. America will lose control over the world. Just wait and see. Anyway they are cowards and fear the N.Koreans. Sorry my American friends.

That and they have something that they can fight with, unlike Iraq, which had been severely weakened over the past two decades. You have a good point, which will no doubt incite the usual accusations that you are a commie, un-American, pro-terrorist, etc. You know, the stuff of feeble minds.

Good on you for asking!

it may be mail that has already been study. On all the bases in Iraq they have a burn pit for all the trash the backside produces. yet to respond to your question, they burn each little thing in Iraq.

It's NOT about oil. The obsession with Iraq is all about competing for THIS secret "prize"!...

I can see nothing in there that I disagree with, which is sad…America invaded Iraq for oil and corporate interest AND what’s worse is that they won’t own up to it.
