Quran 5:51 YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! TAKE NOT THE JEWS AND THE CHRISTIANS FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND PROTECTORS" http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/005.qmt.html

The Quran doesnt allow friendship with kafir or unbeliever or dhimmi or non-muslim or infidel (insert an islamic dehumanizing term) but neverthless, for obvious reasons, many Muslims living in non-muslim countries now desperately want to at least be able to claim they have some non-muslim friends.

Its not just Muslims though, this is also partly a response from the most cowardly in our culture. While "dialogue" is a good thing, sycophantic embrace only encourages the Jihadist mentality further, like blood in a shark tank.

Whats wrong with Muslims paying some price, be it lesser acceptance or whatever, from the hatred and violence that their culture manufactures?

Will more acceptance or "love" bring taken them away from their hate doctrines? How nieve is that...

You must read the historical context on why the verse was delivered.

Muslims were under threat of annihilation by the Makkans (Muslims had already left the city of Makkah but still continued to confront them). The followers advised the prophet to seek alliance with the Jews and Christians for protection. The verse then came down to forbid them because the Jews and Christians were already in good terms with the Makkans.

You have to use the book of Tafsir to decipher the meaning of the words in the Quran. This is important to avoid misinterpretations.

Peace-

The reason for not taking Christians and Jews as friends is further explained below
"O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah, if ye have faith (indeed). " Quran 5: 57.

For the rest of the non-muslims who do not harass muslims because of their religion, Quran does not forbid having a good relationship with them
"60: 8. Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice."

I do not know which religion you have but you are a racist and you need to have more tolerance, I know a lot of Muslims who have good friends in other religions . Do you have any problem with that? what is your problem anyway? They have these friends not because they want to say or pretend they have them but because it is a friendship and they do things for eachother and they care about eachother...this is none of your business... if you do not have Muslims friend , it is your choice but this is not a subject you wanna share in this site. Get some help .

wow really u spend so much of your prescious time visiting Islam-bashing websites. if you would have spent half the time, u would have learnt a lot about Islam from Right sources.

2:62 Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and DOETH RIGHT - surely their REWARD is with their Lord, and there shall NO FEAR COME UPON THEM NEITHER shall they GREIVE.

Not all of them are alike; A PARTY of the people of the Scripture STAND FOR THE RIGHT, they recite the Verses of God during the hours of the night, prostrating themselves in prayer. They believe in God and the Last Day; they enjoin Al-Ma'rûf and forbid Al-Munkar ; and they HASTEN in (all) GOOD WORKS; and they are among the RIGHTEOUS. And whatever good they do, NOTHING WILL BE REJECTED OF THEM; for God knows well those who are Al-Muttaqûn .(3:113-115)

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in God and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, HUMBLING THEMSELVES BEFORE GOD. They do not sell the Verses of God for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, God is Swift in account. '(3:199)'

hope i helped. have a nice day and peace.

I have all types of friends with different religions. My daughter is a
Muslim, although she was raised in a Christian church. IT was brainwashing, no doubt about it.

I still get on her case about not understaanding the religion and I'll
continue to do so if it's til the day I die. She believed in God , Jesus and the Holy Ghost and that what's
keeping me going! I want my daughter back. When it comes to
a mothers' children, their prayer has so much POWER!! I am a prayer warrior, when it comes to my kids

no I would not be friends with them for that reason. In my high school people dont worry about that.

I have something to say to you:
Now go back in time and try to have people thinking muslims are evil instead of them worrying about the evil krauts, japs, or commies.

nicely that's the case, Islam would not forbid Justful Killing. that's "Justful". Emphasis on the Justful. Killing, as interior the type that happens on the instant as in homicide, Is a severe crime in islam and the punishment i believe is death. Muslims, are actually not allowed to kill Non muslims without reason. Our prophet (observed) the guy that we carry on with, our chief, his own uncle become a non-muslim and he never as quickly as made an attack on him. Muslims are in basic terms allowed to kill whilst provoked, in the event that they are attacked then they are allowed to kill. The Qur'an is a lifestyle, that's why it bargains with each ingredient of existence, mutually with conflict. It recognizes, yet not encouraging, that conflict will ensue because of the fact human beings consistently opt for to earnings capability, although we as muslims shouldn't start up them. Allah isn't shy in telling us the thank you to stay existence and he tells us that if concerns do come to conflict then we could desire to consistently be ruthless as we could desire to consistently be sturdy. The Quran says we could desire to consistently not choose an bump into with the enemy, yet as quickly as we bump into them be organization. although, we could desire to consistently never kill females nor toddlers nor are we allowed to harm any tree's in the time of conflict and in the event that they surrend then we could desire to consistently not proceed struggling with. Muslims have been taught that the only concern we could desire to consistently have is of Allah, and we could desire to consistently inspire the forged and forbid the evil, subsequently if somebody is doing evil we could desire to consistently forbid it and not enable it. that's the only case wherein muslims are allowed to kill, no count if or not it quite is a non muslim, a muslim, a christian, a jew etc. Killing for no reason isn't allowed.

if the person in question wants to be your friend for reasons besides just having a "non-muslim friend", than yes. but if that is the only reason, then no, don't be their friend

Excuse me? Where are the verses in the Qur'an that encourages Muslims to respect others and their religion? Try reading Surah Al Kafirun. "To be me my religion, to you be your religion."

The only way to read the Qur'an is to read the verses in context with the whole Surah (Chapter).

Please don't spread your IGNORANCE around.
