Hilarious the things people say on here.
Ok history lesson-
1952- American CIA operatives go to Iran and orchestrate overthrow of the (democratically elected) Prime Minister.
1953- The United States installs puppet leader Muhammed Reza Shah. (Yes WE put the Shah in power.)
1963- After Sha's oppresive regime (that made Saddam's regime look like Mr. Rogers) he is overthrown by a popular revolution. CIA operatives again continue they're interference in Iranian politics- the Shah, though weakened, continues in power with Americans serving as "foreign advisors."
1977-79- After another 16 years of poverty stemming from America and Britain's continuing influence over Iran's oil supply, another popular revolution drives the Shaw from power- this time the Iranians turn to Khomeini who promises to end American influence.
1982- Upset by the loss of face in losing puppet domination of Iran, America turns to Saddam Hussein to fight its battles for it.

Don Rumsfield is dispatched to Iraq and shakes Saddam's hand.
We back Iraq in the Iraq-Iran war and GIVE Sadamm the chemical weapons he uses to gas the Iranians. Hundreds of thousands are killed.
1970-Today meanwhile Israel, also using American weapons, is killing thousands in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt to keep control of its stolen land and promote the building of settlements.
Just this year American cluster bombs are dropped on civilian homes in Lebanon killing hundreds of innocent people.
Outside of America these acts are viewed as atrocious and justify anger and animosity- even hatred.
Here we just call everyone "wack jobs" and go right on about our business.

Nonetheless, iran has actually continually assured America of its desire for peace and its conintuing desire for a civilian nuclear program to help with its energy needs. (Though Iran has oil it lacks the refining capacity necessary to meet its energy needs.)
America continues its sabre rattling.. and though Iran has not invaded another country in 200 years, nonetheless it is viewed as an "enemy." We assume they hate us, even though a million people in iran marced in favor of America after 9/11.
Seems like someone is pulling the strings...

so whats the solution?
Leave them alone.
Iraqn has proven itself to be a peaceful nation. Again it has never started an armed conflict in its entire modern existence! So too it has an excellent reputation as far as respecting international treaties and, despite the lack of diplomatic communication between it and America, has never renedged on an international agreement and has willingly supplied America, year in year out, with oil through OPEC since he 70s.

"If we can somehow help the insurgents overthrow their dictators, Iran will become an ally."
This is exactly what got the whack job into power in the first place.
You cant force a people to change their government every 10 years and expect them to like you.

Not so stupid at all, just ideologically blind. Your facts are correct, yet there are those who ignore them, or trot out the usual lie that 'they hate us because we are free.' That's claptrap, and its based on the assumption that everyone wants WalMart and mind-numbing TV instead of their own idea of society and government. Sure, most Iranians would probably prefer something more like they had in 1952, but they would no doubt gladly defy foreign intervention that goes too far.
This simple idea is lost on so many who prefer to behave like stubborn old folks stuck in their way of life.

I agree, since the fall of the MASSIVE populations of communistic countries who find capatalism to work (democratically agreed) , regardless of religious beliefs (Yes WE helped them get started economically), that Iran and other Middle-Eastern countries (That made Saddam's regime seem like Dr. Evils) will see the benefits as well....see that in yer crystal ball "soothsayer?" or is that "naysayer?" If you can see the future, which finger of knuckle am I guessing your head is like?

Actually, the Iranian people like the USA. The majority of their people want to be like us. But they are held captive by religious mullahs and that wack job of a president.
Iranian college students have conducted Pro American rallies just recently. Hell, we can't get our own college students to do that.
If we can somehow help the insurgents overthrow their dictators, Iran will become an ally.
