how can I fix this?

Sounds a bit like myself. But seriously, you should run a virus scan, get rid of any spyware and defragment the hard drive.

Hi, Yes you could have a virus or malware of some sort. It could also be a failing sector on your hard drive. (Less likily) Press Alt - Ctrl - Delete or Del together. You you should see a Performance tab. Click on that and you will see PF Memory History Line. If it is in the middle or above that is bad. Reboot your PC. Do some browsing or whatever for a minute than check it again if it is in the middle or above again something may by messing around with your virtual and physical memory. How much RAM is installed on you PC and what operating system do you have? You should probably do a virus and malware scan! You can also try a system restore if you have XP. If you have no restore points earlier than today you have a virus! If you do have past restore points pick one and do a system restore!

Run Disc Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter under "Accessories"-"System Tools" and check for spyware/adware.

Usually spyware

Do a search for Spybot and Adaware, dlownload and run them both.
