She digs into the cat litter like a dog digs a hole, and cat litter is thrown everywhere. I tried to get one of those enclosed litter but she will still throw cat litter out the opening. What can I do?

My cats do that to. Some people gave basic solutions, but none of them really work. I just have the box in the basement, and when I scoop the litter, I either sweep or vacume. My friends cats pulls out a TON of litte. They have a mat, an enclosed litter box, and have tryed to teach the cat not to, but nothing works. So they gave up and just sweep once a day.

My step mom uses a big plastic storage container instead of a litter box, it works GREAT! I'd say its big enough to hold a queen size comforter in it. Anyway, it works so well because the cats hop in with ease but the sides are so high they can't fling litter anywhere AND when they jump out, it falls off their feet so they don't really track it around too much either. Hope this helps!

There really isn't much you CAN do. The cat is using the litter box, which is the point anyway, and won't understand why it's being punished. Just be sure to put placemats or other floor protectants underneath the box so you can clean up easily.

Nothing, I have the same problem. I bought one of the enclosed litter pans and he still does it too. I did get a small carpet to go in front of the opening that way when he kicks the litter out it lands on the carpet and I can just take it outside and shake it, and it doesn't end up all over the floor and my house from walking thru it. good luck.

I don't think you can stop a cat from doing that it is in that nature to do so. Maybe u can try doing like a walk in litterbox. That's what I have at home, I got someone to do a wooden walk in shelf/ box with plastic "curtain" in the front as to minimise the sand from flying out of the box.

build a great wall around the litter box

Mine does it too, and I swear he enjoys flinging it. It is quite hilarious. We put the box in a corner and put cardboard on each wall, and then a rug under that I wash every week.

get rid of that litter box and train the cat to use the toilet. i bet that litter is full of disease. when your dumping that stuff in a garbage bag the dust is going in your lungs. you could could wake up with a brain infection.
