How do I ask someone to cosign a student loan for me? I need a cosigner but dont want anyone to take on that responsibility for me. What are some ways I could ask them??

Go at it slowly. Think if you could be a cosigner, who would YOU cosign for? Try asking them first. Some companies will release cosigners after one year of payments. (That is a good selling point to cosigners.)

If you don't know someone who will, forget it. A co-signer is a person who agrees to finish paying the loan if you default. Even if the car is reposed, they are responsible for paying off the note, w/o getting the car.

just be honest with them and dont pressure them or make them feel mad, but do your best to reassure them that you will pay back and they wont get any haggles
