Because kids are not learning basic stuff they need to protect themselves. I just took a class with a recent high school graduate who was near the top of her class. She didn't know what HPV was or that it could lead to cancer. Kids here on Answers ask all the time if they can get diseases by touching, kissing, oral sex, etc. This is stuff that they need to be taught so they don't have to die from making a wrong choice.

Simple, to learn what u r not learning at home and on the streets. Imagine how many more births we'd have, or how many more people infected with STD'S and HIV OR AIDS, or how many more nasty homes people would be living in, or God knows what nutritious meals we'd be out of and so on and so on. The answers r endless reasons. So pay attention u don't want to miss a thing in Health class.

Some parents aren't doing their job by teaching kids health issues. Also somethings the kids listen to someone else teaching it other than Mom of Dad.

So you can learn how to stay healthy; what to do if you get sick; how to understand what a doctor tells you about your health problems or the health problems of one of your loved ones.

because kids need to know about sex and how to be responsible, if they choose to have it. it also teaches kids about std's and how easy it is to get them. they learn a lot of stuff in that class that will help them for later in life. one of the only classes in school, that you will remember...

It is sad but in today's world. Children are not taught at home by their parents, about their bodies and sex and about the opposite sex. I see it as a nurse, a teen comes in, does not know she is pregnant or how she got that way...it's true and hard to believe
