My friends won't grow up! I thought high school would shape them up. I am an active member of my school's GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) and suddenly I'm a lesbian and they won't talk to me. And all the guys think I'm a lesbian and no one is interested in me. All my friends are either over the age of 20, are seniors when I'm a freshman or go to different schools. I'm getting tired of this, but I am not backing out of the GSA. Any advice?

Don't back down!These so called friends arent really your friends if they don't support you! Maybe they are just jealous that they can't do what you are doing! It's hard to stand up for what you believe in (people are so judgmental) and its great that you are doing it! Don't worry it will pass and you'll meet some peeps soon who have the same views as you!
Keep on doing what you're doing it will get better!

Well then they're not your true friends.
I had a friend for years. She didn't tell me she was gay though. She was having a hard time finding a way to tell me because she knew how I felt about gay people. I'm fine with them... I just can't see them do stuff... like kiss and stuff lol. But she had the courage to finally let me know and she's still my friend. She was so happy to hear that.
Apparently your "friends" aren't really who they thought they were.

Its good that you are standing up for what you believe in but if it jeopardizes your friends then you don't need it. That's only if they are friends that you've had for a long time. On the flip side of that, if they are your true friends they'll honor your beliefs and what you are standing for. This is a catch 22. If you go your friends way you lose what you believe in. If you go your beliefs way then you possibly lose your friends. You can't win unless you choose what's in your heart.

Hey,u r in a situation where u can realise if u have true frnz or not.if they dont appreciate ur social cause then dump them.And i guess they will realise 1 day that they have lost a frnd who wud never backout 4rm her responsibility.So, be chilled and u will make new frnz soon.

I think that their reactions are natural and to be expected. You are being judged 'guilty by association'. Sorry, it is a fact of life. Everyone isn't as open minded as you are. You are going to have to make a choice.

well it sounds like to me that you are to mature to be around these "kids" that you call friends. you do what you think is best and don't worry about what everyone else thinks, you will make new friends and realize that you didn't need them in the fisrt place. always stick to your guns and you will get further than you ever thought

I admire your courage to stand up for what you believe in!Sometimes doing this seperates your real friends from those who are just full of crap. Always be who you are. One real friend is worth a dozen posers.

ferget ur frends, make new frends, if they arent satnding by ur side, they are definetly not worth it, ur obviously betta than that, u definetly need frends who are not closed minded and ignorant...good luck wit that!
