Almost every Muslim I have talked with, on the subject of translation, has made the absurd claim that "you cant rely on any scholars translation"...and NOT JUST ARABS THAT MAKE THIS CLAIM!

You see, according to most Muslims, unless your an arabic scholar, you essentially cant truely understand Allah's commands or words...you can only hope that the Muslims telling you what it might mean are correctly translating AND interpreting it.

How amazingly privileged Arabs are!!! This obscure desert language is the ONLY language God chose to be UNDERSTOOD IN and they ONLY PEOPLE GOD CHOSE TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY!

God is God, so thus, if he wanted to, he could have made it so that the Quran was released in all languages and equally valid....but I suppose he just wasnt as powerful as Simon and Shuster.

I had one Muslim in here explain to me that "Allah did it this way cause Arabs are to stubborn and wouldnt have learned the Quran in another language!!". I KID YOU NOT!

On Interpretation....if i interpret something it is based on my frame work of thinking, it becomes my view point. How can man interpret Allah's thinking? This is the first thing that runs in my mind.
It is said the language is poetic, man cannot understand prose! How is he going to understand Arabic? And what happens to man kind who were born before Islam?
My Aferican brothers are still walking happily in the jungle naked, will they all go to hell?
They say that Islam accepts religions of the book (torah, bible) but Koran is the perfected Book.....Now this puts me in a fix...Is Allah learning from us and perfecting the book? Will there be another book following with more changes?

There was a time in history when Church leaders claimed the Bible could only be read in Latin, or Greek. For all I know, maybe there was a time when Jewish scholars claimed it could only be read in Hebrew.

Take a chill pill, brother. By the way, have you ever considered trying to learn Arabic? It's a beautiful language, very poetic. I can see how Moslems are attracted to it.

Meanwhile, keep on searching for the truth, brother. Seek and you shall find.

brother before getting religious knowledge u also want to know abt arabic language.
arabic is a richest language,in words in it's culture, only language representing the oldest past in it.it's one word sounds thousand meaning giving way to understand thousand paths at a time.
i'm not arabic, neither i know arabic, but i am really fond of it,n reallly really want to learn it.
y Allah chose arabic......b\c arabic provided a richest taste to the message of Allah, which no other language could have....including arabs, even before the advent of islam were really had pride in their language,n Allah wanted to reveal Quran in the language, which the nation were willingto protect.that is the reason, since long even before advent of islam(since 14oo yr ) arabic still there.
while many languages emerged n expired, english, persian, urdu, french all generated recently,no language has a cultural heritage as arabic......probably brother u don't know the importance of language.

y Quran not translated in all languauges......b\c Allah never wanted Quran to get ammended n replaced words of their own as did to prestigious Bible....it was translated, retranslated n everytime there were ammendements,so much have been changed in it(accpeted by all priests, preachers,n missionaries,if they don't want to accept it,that's the other case)that now one can't recognize between true word from Allah Himself,n word added by them

that is the reason,Quran's translation can NEVER be the same as real Quran..Quran originality lies in Arabic,n that's the miracle n solid evidence y not a word of it has been changed of it

brother ....u were advised rite,if u study islam, n want to get the real essence,REAL can be best provided by arabic scholar.n ppl like u n me need to study arabic..
may blessings be with whole humanity

Arabs? Yes, that's racist. Arab speaking? It makes sense. Any translation is going to be colored by the translator, either his/her feelings or inadequacies in the language. Even with Allah's guidance, people still have free will to mess things up.

You understand that his comment on Arab stubborness is not a compliment to his own people, right?

Well I'm sick of Christians saying you have to know hebrew and greek to understand the Word.

Scholars who make such claims are grasping at straws when someone challenges their doctrine.

Scholars and professors are well known to have problems with rationalizing to the extreme and being in total love of self.

Have you ever tried to read the Koran. I have and in English it is almost impossible to follow. I can't imagine it is any easier in Arabic but maybe it is.

It definitely displays plenty of ignorance on their behalf.

Must be a small world - no room for the rest of Earth's population!

There is one God only. He loves us all dearly. God is hurting so much witnessing our petty disputes - all in his name.

May God bless us all. May Peace of the Lord be with us.
