I was online looking for a printer and found one on sale. I went to the store to buy it and they told me it was not on sale. I ask them to go online and look. He did, came back and said it's not onsale. I bought it anyway. I came home and double checked and it was on sale. I called the store and they said print it out and come back to the store. I said no just take it off my credit card. After I talked to 4 people, a manager got on and said calm down. I did raise my voice so she hung up on me.

Now I'm pissed!!! I called their corperate office on the other side of the country and told them what happened and the printer was onsale. They ask if I wanted to file a complaint and I said yes, They also are sending me a giftcard worth double what I would have saved on the sale.

I'm still pissed!!! Do I call the BBB and accuse BestBuys of false advertising? The sales people were so friggin rude, I can't let it go. What would you do?

it was an instore ad, corperate conformed it. They saw the same thing I did. I did yell only after being jerk around on the phone then finally greated with "what's your problem".

P,S. this is no life lesson. It's life... I wouldn't have done anything different, fortuneately. I just don't like rude, condisending and PRETENTIOUS people.

I wouldn't call the BBB. That's only for really egregious unprovoked behavior or shoddy merchandise that they do not compensate you for or replace. BestBuy is a reputable place that seeks to preserve their image. I'm sure that by calling the headquarters, you've shaken up the local organization quite a bit. It's my guess that someone is going to lose their job for this or receive a serious reprimand. Yes, people can get rude sometimes, but ...hey, love covers a multitude of sins.

As far as false advertising. There has been known to be a disconnect between an actual store and the online store. Some offers and prices are available at one and not the other. This is a glitch in the new enterprise model. I've seen commercials about it. True, it shouldn't happen, but apparently it does more and more. Web site fronts are run by different divisions of the same company. Where it may appear to have the same logo and brand, it is really a different set of features, offerings, products, and yes even prices and sales availability. Give this new technology some more time, say another five or so years. Every jump in technology has its period of bugs that need to be worked out.

You are wasting your time on Better Business Bureau. I think your anger got the best of you and that made the situation worse.
If you called headquarters and they are sending you a gift card, you would be lame to continue to try and make trouble.

It sounds like they are taking care of it. I suggest that you find a way to vent your anger on another activity. While they may have been wrong, you were likely out of line when you got mad and yelled enough to get hung up on. This was a good learning experience about how to deal with difficulty. You will seldom win a shouting match and will get better service with a more careful and polite approach.

I have just found a solution to my own best buy issues, and I can give you this advice

1. Talk face to face preferably to the highest level person easily accesable. (Can't hang up on you face to face)
2. Bring proof of what you claim (print out the ad)
3. Be Firm, but calm in what you want. (Don't blow up at them, they are at the mercy of their own stupidity)
4. If the person cannot help you, tell them "Obviously you are not athourized to get what I want done", or something like that and politely ask for their supervizor.
5. Work your way up the chain command, be polite but firm.

Hope this Helps

Don

Yes I would. Good for you--I am glad you are standing up for your rights. You were right and they are wrong. I hate bad business and that is all that we seem to get. They will dispute it and it will be on their record for others to see, so why not be heard and let others know.
