The Sunday River Ski Resort in Bethel, Maine holds the North American Wife Carrying Championships. A man, carrying his wife on his back, has to complete a 278 yd course, which includes a hairpin turn, a log hurdle and a water trench.

The winner (this years time for the course was 1 minute 6.5 seconds) takes home beer calculated to the wifes weight and a cash prize.

Would you enter a competition like this or would you consider it immoral?

It depends on how heavy my wife was!

That would be something terrible to do. If you won you would you be revealing your wife's weight to everyone! Which is a terrible thing to do in ANY way you look at it. For everyone knows how sensitive women are about their weight, but we also need to remember what the Lord told us. The 11th commandment: "Thou shalt not reveal the weight of thine wife to anyone or thou shalt be condemned."

Seriously, I believe it would be a rather immoral thing to do. All that exercise would be rather embarrassing to your wife, and if you won you would get just a little money, and possibly get really drunk. And we all know how the Lord feels about alcoholism.

i would not consider it immoral it just looks like good fun.

but let us think about this.
beer is mostly water. water weighs 8 pounds per gallon.for a standard 150 pound person that would be 18 gallons of beer.

so if i could find a 150 pound woman to marry me than i would probably go for it. as it stands i would earn 50 gallons of beer.
which is a lot of beer. but i doubt that i could afford the medical procedures to put my vertebrae back to normal

That's a great idea, but my wife has packed on a few pounds lately and I would probably hurt myself. Other than that no I have no problem with it.

Not only would my ex have entered, he would have tried fattening me up with buffet dinners for months in advance.
